I literally changed the Islanders wiki page after the Lightning beat them for the 2nd straight playoff year. I listed Nassau Coliseum as the home of the Tampa Bay Lightning. (As a twitter joke) It stayed up for hours.

Wikipedia is literally open to all.

 

Mine wouldn’t even see me at 6 weeks unless there was an issue. There was an issue with my first but not my second.

 

This was us too. My wife was very in tune and seemed to sense it.

 

In my opinion from plenty of conversations, it's not based on scientific understanding but on the emotional connection to their work of delivering babies on a daily basis. Not sure whether the work shapes the beliefs, or the beliefs are part of the drive to pursue that profession.

I'll just point out that "design," as a verb, has multiple definitions. People are assuming she meant one of these definition: "to create, fashion, execute, or construct according to plan" or "to devise for a specific function or end." But this definition actually more naturally fits with what she's saying: "to conceive or execute a plan."

She was speaking in the context of HEARTBEAT BILLS that ban abortion. A natural interpretation of her meaning in the context of that conversation is that right-wingers use this manufactured sound of a heartbeat (when there isn't even a developed heart) to further their plan of controlling women's bodies.

Here's the quote: "There is no such thing as a heartbeat at six weeks. It is a manufactured sound designed to convince people that men have the right to take control of a woman's body." Writing that sentence another way: "They use this manufactured sound for the plan of convincing people that men have the right to take control of a woman's body."

 

Manufactured sound….sounds reasonable.

 

Nominee for what? She is extremely unqualified for almost ANY federal office. She has not held any office greater in responsibility than state legislator. The only real job she has had was as an activist. Please, no more unqualified politicians. We barely survived a dozen years of Obama and Trump. She should work her way up the ladder to develop those qualifications.

 

"Barely survived" Obama? Puhlease. He was a good President.

 

And to think people actually voted for her.

 

Compared to Trump and possibly GWB, yes. But in the longer term view, no. Obama's health care program was transformational, but not all that positive. (Health care costs did not go down, and most of the 42 million people that it was supposed to benefit refused to sign up for it.) Obama's foreign policy was dreadful--he had a hand in starting a rebellion in Syria that created the most blood-thirsty terrorist organization in history, and had 11 different groups at one point battling each other with financing from other countries. The U.S. and its ally, Turkey, backed different groups that spent most of their time attacking each other. Once Obama drew a red line in the sand and allowed the dictator of Syria to cross it without consequences, the U.S. became a paper tiger that didn't scare anyone. China made its "Nine Dashes" declaration claiming most of the South China Sea for itself during Obama's reign. Russia invaded Crimea during Obama's second term, and claimed the rights for oil exploration to essentially the entire Arctic Circle. And Afghanistan was badly mismanaged while Obama was in office. He did make the U.S. more popular with Europe, which did not help us in the grand scheme of things.

Obama was severely under-qualified when he took office, and it showed.

 

I would think that at least one out of three doctors would have made the comment that you can see the heart fluttering, but it's not beating on its own quite yet, but will start to beat on its own in a few weeks, if that is what they learned in medical school. Doctors are scientists of a sort, and scientists usually tend to be accurate in what they say.

 

Meanwhile people ignore the doctors and scientists at the NHS that say the "heart" is "beating". Or the people at Planned Parenthood who just recently removed the term from their website.

It's been called a beating heart in those early ultrasounds forever. The semantics are what they are, but it isn't crazy that doctors refer to ot this way with parents.

 

The whole point is it’s misleadingly used as a justification to prevent abortions very early in pregnancies. If you want to use it as a gotcha and claim it makes her look dumb then I think it says far more about you and theplayer than Abraham.

 

Is the NHS trying to mislead? What does their wording say about them?

Saying the future heart is "fluttering" is silly.
That is not a future heart. It is a developing heart.

 

Just to recap.
Johns Hopkins, the NHS, and Planned Parenthood call it a heartbeat... Yet some here tell me that my wifes doctors "didnt say" that.

Why would a local OB disagree with Johns Hopkins or the NHS?

Just call her out for her made up lie and move on

If facts mattered whether or not there is a detectable "heartbeat" would really be irrelevant. It's become a commonly used marker because it occurs so early in pregnancy that it can be used in so called prolife legislation to effectively outlaw the overwhelming majority of abortions. Brain activity which occurs at around the 16th week would be a much more rational marker keeping in mind that at the other end of the life cycle brain activity is the universal marker of when life ends not the cessation of cardiac activity.

Ireland used to have a fetal "heartbeat" law. This was one effect.
