Yeah, one of the common causes of trolling is that it makes people feel smarter or more interesting. Also a common set of reasons that people believe ridiculous theories publicly.

The thing is. We don’t have to fight the Russians. Ever. We don’t have to fight anyone. All we really need to do is to close our some 150 bases in some 70 countries, bring our boys and girls home, and learn to live as good neighbors in the world. On the balance, the world would be better for it.

that kind of overly simplistic isolationism is regressive and impossible in the modern world and has gotten the us in trouble before. Doesn’t mean we should be fighting everybody but we should always always always be ready to fight. Being ready to fight from a strong position is always one of the best ways to stop a fight from happening.

Who said anything about isolation ? If we concentrated our forces at home, we could cut our military budget in half and no ten nations combined would dare try to invade us.

Just who do you see filling Putin's shoes? From my point of view history certainly doesn't portray tales of regret from those responsible for matters of war. If anything the regret is the loss versus regret for one's actions.

Money and power is what drives the corruption. Tell me why the US or Europe should contribute to rebuilding Ukraine in any circumstance?

Why would Russia want to “return to the good graces of the West” given the good graces of the West ? What’s wrong with a multi-polar world with Russia working with China, India, Iran, Pakistan, the Arab world and most of Africa and Latin America ? Are they going to gang up on us and invade us ? We have 330 million people who need cellphones and support services.

frontline resistance to Russia. They help feed the planet. Democracy there could create a vibrant economy with new and improved infrastructure and serve as a beacon for the surrounding russian areas.

Funeral dirge for low morale and middle-aged Russian troops headed to the front lines ...

There is nothing wrong with a multi-polar world, as long as all countries can agree on things like respect for other countries' borders and maritime rights, the need to preserve wildlife for future generations, and the need to work together to limit global warming and other man-made problems. Russia and China both have severe problems with some or all of the above. We can't do business with trading partners throughout the world if they are getting robbed or abused by these countries. Somebody has to stand up for these countries, and I'm fairly certain it won't be the countries that are robbing them.

While I wholeheartedly agree that Russia is hardly a paragon of truth, to what end would they say this? It undercuts Putin’s show of strength, and makes Russia seem disorganized. Not to mention, the whole reason Putin said it was to force a concession from the west. Randomly using them now will have the exact opposite effect. So there was no strategic value in today’s statement.
If I had to bet, it was either China ringing up Putin and telling him they will bail if he doesn’t walk it back, or one of his advisors telling him that this will hasten a coup. Putin would never walk it back himself, so he had someone else do it.
And yes, of course Putin could flip again, no one would be surprised. But today wasn’t accidental.

There could be a lot that Ukraine contributes to the world once they recover from this war. As was previously mentioned, they can return to being the world's breadbasket. They can also return to providing energy to Europe. They can go back to mining metals for western societies. Maybe the war has matured them into being able to advance beyond the corruption they had before. You never know. South Africa used to be a very racist country, and is now ruled by black people. Countries can be transformed under the right circumstances. The U.S. was not always a powerful beacon of light to the world.

They could have had that uninterrupted. But Zelensky capitulated to warmongers and brought his country to ruin.

“GENEVA — Russian soldiers have raped and tortured children in Ukraine, a United Nations-appointed panel of independent legal experts said in a damning statement on Friday that concluded war crimes had been committed in the conflict.

The commission has documented cases in which children have been raped, tortured, and unlawfully confined,” the panel’s chairman, Erik Mose, told the council.”

He added: “Children have also been killed and injured in indiscriminate attacks with explosive weapons. The exposure to repeated explosions, crimes, forced displacement and separation from family members deeply affected their well-being and mental health.”

The commission found that some Russian troops had committed sexual and gender-based violence, with the victims ranging in age from four years old to 82.

U.N. experts find that war crimes have been committed in Ukraine.

Again, regressive. Us interests extend well beyond the borders.

I know of one country, if it ever learned to respect borders ... might be a shining example to the world.

You mean resources we have the right to take and people we have a right to control.
