They were sporadic and gave up a lot of points they shouldn't have. @sandman70 described it best; they had Wiscy Hangover. The burning question is, where was Birdie Grace? She was not dressed out and not in street clothes. She was MIA! I hope there are no family medical issues that would make her miss.
Is this who you are referring to: Birdie Hendrickson - Volleyball - Florida Gators If so, Alexis Stuckey is what happened to her. After the first two matches of the season, her time has drastically dropped as Alexis Stuckey has healed up from knee surgery and become the QB of the team. She is the straw that stirs the drink. At 6'2", Birdie maybe should transition over to OH where she might get PT. I noticed seldom used Robinson came on in relief for Sofia Victoria and got a kill against bama. She could move to DS, but Merritt Beason is on the back row and the other players back there are better. Just want to say Alexis Stuckey is all THAT and MORE. She deserved Freshman of the Week, but I'd have given SEC Player of the Week to Merritt Beason. She played fabulously all match against Wisconsin. UF wouldn't have won without both players so I'm thinking share the love with a well deserving Beason.
I think this team is very special. It would not surprise me to see these ladies go through the SEC undefeated.
You are spot on with Stuckey being the setter. There is no question about that. I concur about Beason, too. A friend said before she came, 'why would you get a setter from Wyoming?' He has since made a meal of those words. Birdie started against NF, and we lost the first set. Then Stuckey came in, and we win the next 3. Against ETSU Birdie started and we lost 1st set, and then Stuckey. Stanford, no where to be seen. Minn no where. Georgia So.-3 sets, not good. FGCU-3 sets, 6 kills, VCU-3 sets, 7 kills, 2 aces. FSU-no Wsc-1 set, no stats. Alabama-MIA. Her social media is still all Florida.
Did not play our best but got the W on the road. What adjustments do both teams make coming into tomorrow's rematch? I think that USC will be more aggressive with their serve. For a lot of the match there were perfect passes to our setter and she is too good to allow that. They didn't have a lot of service errors so they should be more aggressive on serve. Not sure how the Gators will adjust. We won, LOL. When we passed well we hit at a very high rate but if the other side is serving well what can we do.
I might not have gotten on when it first left the station, but I have definitely boarded the Stuckey band wagon. And she's just a true freshman -- wow. In addition to all other the things she does well, the last couple of matches have shown that she's also outstanding at jousts. Strong hands there, for sure.
Shocking to me, a 5 set loss to 7-5 SC. Totally out of sync and dominated at the net in set 5. 15-7 Crappy weekend for Gator sports.
