Curious to hear from those who have an issue with this.

"The Disclose Act would require super PACs and other dark money groups to report those who contribute $10,000 or more during an election season.

“There’s much too much money that flows in the shadows to influence our elections. It’s called dark money. It’s hidden. Right now, advocacy groups can run ads on issues attacking or supporting a candidate right until Election Day without disclosing who’s paying for that ad,” he said.

Biden also noted that foreign entities use dark money loopholes to try to influence U.S. elections. The president said that he has proposed publicly funding all U.S. elections but that he doesn’t “have the support for that position,” calling this bill a second position “that is very good.”"

This could work in the Pubs favor... unless he uses the FBI to target Americans that donate to the Pubs.

Oh in that case I expect 50 pub votes in the Senate and this bill to pass easily.

Somehow I doubt that will be the case.

I'm not so sure all democrats will, either. The level of corruption in Washington is mind-boggling. Citizens United has only made matters worse. If it passes, it will be appealed, and this SCOTUS will find it unconstitutional using the same warped logic Kennedy used in CU (and Blackmun used in Roe v. Wade in 1973. If a result is desired, the Justices are intelligent enough to find a rationale for it, no matter how tenuous.)

Lol... The RINOs might have ulterior motives to vote for or against it.

Even if the law passed, odds are it would get struck down.

Works for me so long as there are no cute exceptions that seem to favor one party.

No one should be against this bill.

But I can think of about 535 people who might be.

I'm just looking forward to how they justify being against it.

"Let Democratic candidates compete with each other based on their ideas and grassroots support, not on the kind of billionaire super PAC money they can attract. Let us try to create a Democratic Party which is truly democratic.” - Bernie Sanders

One of the many reasons we need 4 more SCOTUS justices.

I've got a better idea. How about outlawing PACs to begin with? Make politicians actually beholden to their constituents instead of special interest groups.

Any law to outlaw, disclose donors or lessen the power of PACs would be shot down by the right leaning SCOTUS

Dems have plenty of Dark Money sources too. I am all for this and support it 100%. But not just during the election season but every day, every year. Anything less and there is a giant loophole.
A good read on how influential Dark Money is, is Dark Money by Jane Meyer

I would imagine there are 535 people in Congress that do as well.

Who knew Mel Brooks would hit it so close to the truth (subsitute "Congress" for "The Roman Senate")
