    Lots to unpack here.
    1. Jesus actually uses unfaithfulness as one of the very rare allowances for divorce. No way would I encourage my daughters to stay with a sleaze bag that might bring some disease home to her or expect her to tolerate such behavior.
There is nothing "Christian" about any such expectation.

    2. I dont know that I can make an assertion as of yet about 8f these people were mistreated by DeSantis based 9n the political leanings of the accusers, but I called out Trumps border policy, so I assume I can be counted on to do the same if DeSantis flies contrary to mily belief.

    3. My point was not to defend RD as much as point out that calling RD supporters faith and integrity to questions rings hollow if it comes from someone that directly supported the Clintons.

Thank you. And thats my point. He was a very good president (aside from my social disagreements on certain things).

He was a really good president.
He was a deplorable human being though.

It’s not just a political ploy. It’s trolling. He’s intentionally trying to upset people to score points with a certain demographic. This is uniquely trumpian. If you disagree, give me another example of a presidential hopeful trolling like this.

So for the media/left to paint him as trump is completely fair imo. He’s inviting it. It’s what he’s trying to do!

Per the TB Times he's apparently trying to do another immigrant flight, this time from TX to Delaware. He's just spending Florida tax dollars for his 2024 presidential campaign.

Well they may not be in the same ballpark, but they are playing the same game. You are correct in that DeSantis appears to not have that cheating gene that Trump has or even Bill Clinton for that matter, so good for him. (To my knowledge Clinton didn't brag about his infidelities like Trump tho and including Hillary in the discussion is quite the stretch. The right shredded Bill Clinton for his infidelities but give Trump a total pass. Talk about hypocrisy).

However, when it comes to policy, DeSantis is every bit as vindictive and divisive, if not more so than Trump and he gets worse with every new day. DeSantis is much more effective at pushing thru his political legislation than Trump ever was. DeSantis follow thru, while Trump just rants. Finally, DeSantis owes his political fortune to Trump and has supported Trump all the way while knowing full well of Trump's many disgusting personal and business scandals.

The ultimate question is does DeSantis have the personal charisma to get the nomination and win over independents in the general election. I still doubt it.

Regrettably, I admit that I am one of those folks that voted for Hillary. I don’t intend to wag my finger at you, but I am trying myself to be better. I would like to elevate being a good person above the particulars of the politics of candidates. It is one of the serious drawbacks of democracy, that one must vote for an entire individual and take all or none of them. Like buying a previously filled grocery cart, it will always be a mixed bag.

But my -admittedly idealistic- hope is that if we all choose to vote only for good people, there will only be good people on the ballots in the future.

Looks like your guy could be on the ballot in 24, just not sure biden's up to it or the dems want him to run. Don't particularly like him but at least he's not 80. :p

In the interim. DeSantis makes an inadvertent admission

I actually don’t know much about Newsome. I am a fan of Amash. I am also intrigued by Yang’s forward party. I will look at whoever the big two nominate, but I’m not feeling particularly optimistic at this point.

This is such a big problem that we couldn't find a sufficient number to do this with in our very large state, so we needed to go elsewhere might be the best argument of this whole bad faith exercise.

this is a Newsome - DeSantis election is my bet, has been, and continues to be. I'll take Newsome every day on that over the vindictive use of executive authority to punish enemies from state attorneys to school boards to teachers and beyond.

Which one of those things is a danger to democracy going forward? Hint, it’s not a shot.

Isolation obviously isn’t “good” for anyone, but no that isn’t authoritarian. Seems some of you think authoritarian is “policies I personally don’t like or agree with”. Closing schools is perfectly reasonable in a public health emergency, and was definitely the reasonable response in March 2020. Some probably took too long to re-open the following fall or saw a bunch of false-starts between virus outbreaks, but that still doesn’t make it “authoritarian” policy on it’s own - particularly with public health advocates being on that side (vs. the other way around).

Authoritarian would be circumventing public health and/or doing what was unpopular, and doing it in a unilateral way. Trump trying to use political pressure to cram false cures through the bureaucracy, THAT was authoritarian. The school closures thing was almost 100% consensus at first and probably through that first fall, after that the consensus switched to wanting kids back on school and most districts actively wanted this (reality of teachers unions got in the way with some).

Who’s doing that now? A once every hundred year pandemic MAY call for drastic measures, albeit temporarily. You lose your democracy, it’s not coming back.
