I agree that the parents should have gotten their child mental health services to deal with the obvious mental illness resulting in a desire to mutilate their body and take life altering hormones.

While I like Bill Maher in this case he was clearly over the top.
Neither irreversible surgery nor hormone therapy nor even puberty blockers are ever prescribed for 8-year olds who think that they may be transgendered. The standard treatment for children that age is counseling and maybe letting a genetic male grow his hair out and wear girls' clothing and conversely letting a genetic female cut her hair and wear apparel more appropriate for a boy than a girl. Never anything more.

 

That doesn’t mean parents and libbie media aren’t encouraging sex change at a very early age. It’s disappointing when religion interferes at this young, impressionable age, and it’s disgusting when the libbies promulgate it for impressionable children.

This is exactly what you insinuated. Hobby Lobby (or any company offering insurance for that matter) has never denied anyone the ability to seek the healthcare services they want.

 

Obviously off-topic but I'll respond anyway. Cute, especially considering that the migrants weren't Mexicans they were Venezuelans but then according to the supporters of the Ron DeSantis stunt apparently all Hispanic immigrants are interchangeable except maybe the Republican-leaning Cubans of South Florida.

Chutzpah is a Yiddish term roughly translated as extreme audacity, the common example of which is a person who murders both of his parents and then asks the court for mercy because he is an orphan. A prime example of chutzpah is the implicit criticism of the residents of Martha's Vineyard because because they supported the relocation of Venezuelan migrants to a facility (a military base by the way) better able to accommodate them. This was after the migrants arrived with no advance notice and were welcomed by residents of the community who scrambled to provide them with support after they were flown from Texas at the expense of Florida taxpayers being induced to do so based on the blatantly false promise that jobs and housing would be waiting for them. Giving DeSantis a free pass and in fact praising him for the stunt while criticizing residents of the island who actually welcomed the migrants is chutzpah at its best (or worst).

This was brilliant from the Heartbreak Kid. Sure the migrants were from Venezuela. Yet they crossed the border from Mexico. It did not take long to remove the migrants from Martha’s Vineyrd…

 

It is a cute video but it in no way reflects reality. The migrants were moved by the state to a military facility on Cape Cod better able to accommodate them. Contrary to the narrative from the right-wing media including social media they were not removed by the residents of Martha's Vineyard because they were unwanted.

Studies have shown the suicide rate in those who undergo transgender surgery to be 441 times higher than the general population. Staggering. So yeah, I think on this one I'm going to go with the conservatives. In my opinion, the surgery shouldn't be allowed until the person turns 21. Can't even drink a beer until you turn 21.
