DJ Lagway, 5-star 2024 QB prospect, has 6 SEC teams in his top 10

 

Is he becoming an increasingly important must have?

 

He’s two years from now and probably wouldn’t play for three years from now. There’s a lot to do before that’s a big issue. We need somebody to play quarterback the next couple years at least

 

We will get another QB from the portal in the off season. Even if one of Miller, Kitna or Brown emerge this year, we still need a portal QB. Does anyone think Stokes is the future of Gator football? I have no idea how he is a 4* player...I've said it before -- that kid will never see the field at Florida.

If AR is playing poorly and he gets the slightest injury vs UT ... it would not surprise me if the coaches use that opportunity to let Kitna run a series. Especially if we are getting spanked. If not Kitna this week, it will be Miller or Kitna getting their shot in the near future.

Back to Lagway ... like Wanne said, we need someone to play QB in 23 and probably 24. Maybe he's good enough to start as a true freshman but let's hope he doesn't have to because one of our other QB's is playing well.

Let's not be too quick evaluating Stokes.
Let's see how he performs this Fall in his last year of high school.

I believe he’s having a bad year. Almost Carson Beck like. I hope he sticks if and when DJ commits.

So much depends on the supporting cast. Did his oline graduate 4 times layers from last year. Does he have any receivers? Did he lose his OC?
I’m not saying stokes is great and I’m not saying he is terrible. I don’t know. But I do know a lot will depend on who he has helping him.

 

Does Stokes perform well in a camp setting? Heard his team is bad so hoping that’s the case.

He's completing less than 50% of his passes, his team is winless and he has four INTs vs three TDs. OR ... you can watch his highlights from his first four games on this website called HUDL. I didn't base my opinion on fan board intel.

Why is Shane Matthews saying hello? The legend of Shane Matthews has evolved over the years to Rudy-like status. He was a highly ranked QB out of high school (he was the POTY in the state of Mississippi his Sr year) and was projected to battle for 2nd string before Spurrier arrived. He did really well in the spring and beat Terry Dean for the starting job.

I hope I'm wrong about Stokes b/c we don't need another miss at QB. I was confident Jack Miller was going to beat out AR in the spring but was wrong on that one.

 

I'm hearing rumblings out of Ponte Vedra that Stokes is a character problem. If you check out his social media, he tends to put forth a persona that is "all that," and he really hasn't proven anything. On top of that, he has fewer than 650 passing yards in four games and has more picks than touchdowns. It wouldn't bother me in the slightest if he went to one of his other schools - FAU, maybe?

Yea. Creed's having an outstanding year. If he was as tall as his brother he'd be ranked in the top five at QB.

 

Richard Young is having a bad year stats wise bat is ranked 1 or 2 at RB. I like Stokes but understand the uncertanty about him.

 

I guess those are "okay" numbers.
