    Totally agree.

In other words learning how to pitch and not just throw.

Add Canadian OF and LH hitter Brendan Lawson to the list. Plus bat who had a great summer and projects to be one of the better prospects in the class of ‘24.

One story had Lawson as a top 50 player and a top hitter.

If I remember, I will check on this year’s draft but I would guess no more than 5ish of the top 50 HS players make campus. My memory is a couple guys in the 30s made it to campus this year.

Nope. I’m Fred’s Daughter. No grandsons by that name. But we must be related somehow.

Actually one of the lowest ranked classes we've had in awhile. LSU continues to dominate. They are either 1 or 2 almost each year. It will be hard to best that if they get kids on campus.

I knew an Alice M in school in the late 70's. My memory is that she was from Tampa.

Wake has long had a pretty robust baseball budget. Had a good friend whose son was an elite pitcher in the Sarasota area, he said the "offer" from them was light years better than UF, and this was before NIL

They have a big booster who contributes to most of their needs.

Old post but got me thinking about me throwing from CF. Normally if I threw naturally I'd aim just inside first base to curve the ball to home plate. I had a lot of armside motion. But I learned to throw "over the top" to reduce the amount of armside motion if playing CF in a game. Not as strong of a throw but not too much slower to the plate and more accurate.

And not an arm slot I would ever pitch from. All your pitches should be from close to the same arm slot.

That is why even though I had a pretty good knuckle ball from the wind up it was totally different and I never thought of it as a secondary pitch except with an 0-2 count.

Added in edit: You know even if you know a knuckleball is coming as a batter it doesn't give you an edge. Hoyt Wilhelm only threw them and he is in the HOF.

    My knuckler wasn't like his.

He is the GOAT for the knuckleball.

Montsdeoca signs making it, by my count, 15 of 16 expected commitments official. Of course, the 16th is DJ Lagway who (hopefully) signs with the football team in a few weeks.
