That would at least make it worth glancing at. Why list a bunch of schools of no real interest? Self glorification?

 

He's a kid and this is his once-in-a-lifetime chance to do what the other great players are doing too.

 

I get it but it’s nonsense to list schools you have no interest in. Some kids may have legit interest in 20 schools though. I’m sure it happens.

Offer list is cool though.

 

A lot of these kids are branding and trying to get followers on the social apps so they can get paid for NIL. This is a business now more than it ever has been. Top 10 lists get eyes and stories, then too 5 or too 7. Keep your name out there and keep getting people looking at you and writing about you.

If he was in the '23 class, yes. For a '24 prospect it's perfectly fine. He may not have even narrowed down to five. Gives him a chance for a lot more visits.

 

Oh you're right, we're all just poking a little fun that it's not that big of an update, but it definitely is for him and it's the usual process for a guy 2 classes away.

Hope we're way ahead than the other schools, that we get him, and that he becomes a great recruiter for us

I only applied to 3 undergrad engineering schools: Colorado School of Mines, Georgia Tech and UF.

If I had been recruited and given the opportunity to see MIT, Michigan, Purdue, Illinois, etc, a Top 10-20 list would have been easily achievable.

I hope he goes to every school he is interested in and gets a great feel for what each are like. Sadly, unlike academics where your top flight professor doesn’t change every 3-5 years, these kids end up in situations dramatically different than the initial recruitment.
