Again, this is a terrible job by the Biden Administration. The open borders are a mistake, IMO, but if you are going to let people flood into this country illegally, how about at least having an established, well thought-out plan on what to do with these people once they arrive?

Texas is shelling out millions and millions each year and understandably don't want a continued influx of illegals. Not sure how anyone can blame Abbott for shipping them around the country. The problem is there is no longer a welcome mat out in many states and cities, whether they are “red or blue”.

The whole border situation has been a complete failure under this administration.

It seems appropriate here. What other explanation is there for referring to legal residents as "illegals?" It might make you uncomfortable that there is a racial component to this, but that doesn't make it not exist. And this is one of the easier areas to see this, given that, by definition, they are not illegally in this country.

Generally, those actually are undocumented people being sent to facilities that happen to be located in different areas of the country. In other words, those are people that are not legally here and are currently being detained.

Or how about stop pretending that the government can prevent people from attempting to move to an area when there is a labor shortage in a higher income area? And again, many of the people you and they are referring to as "illegals" are here legally at least on a temporary basis, a point none of you want to address for some reason.

How are the borders "open" if the number of apprehensions are at a recent high? And part of the problem is there can be no plan, because the only acceptable solution to too many R's is to deport them.

It's seems amusing to me that posters are saying "we shouldn't send these folks where they are not expected"

    Really?

Did these folks make reservations in Corpus Christi or Galveston? Did the locals have an idea that "oh, we've got an extra baker's dozen families here today...about 47 people all told."? No. Having been born in Mexico and emigrated to this great country I hold no ill will to anyone trying to better themselves. And, we should secure our borders or we won't have a country - these things are not mutually exclusive.

The ones being sent to US government holding facilities? Generally, yes.

Also mentioned this in the other thread, thanks to Ron DeSantis the taxpayers of Florida paid to fly Venezuelan migrants from San Antonio, Texas to Martha's Vineyard. The migrants were never actually present in Florida.

The US must have never been a country. Because we've never had a secure border in our history. Heck, we didn't have any border laws until 1882. And no Border Patrol until 1924. Should we use one of these dates instead of 1776?

People have been coming to Alerts
America (cue Neil Diamond) in search of a better life for centuries. I view this as a strength, not a weakness. We should treat it as such. Stop trying to secure 2000 miles of a border that can't be done without full militarization. Instead, do what two, bipartisan commitees came up with. An expanded guest worker program with a pathway to citizenship.

He's just giving them an opportunity to be more inclusive. They should welcome the assistance.

Nope, they want to kick the new Cubans fleeing communism out of Florida too.
Nuñez faces backlash for comments about Cuban migrants

That's patently false. There's a robust infrastructure in Texas to deal with asylees. The problem here is throwing these people into a place with no notice and no infrastructure is going to make life difficult for everybody. (Of course, the people in Martha's Vineyard clearly have the compassion and values that DeSantis and his ilk lack.) It's like a blizzard hitting Texas versus a blizzard hitting Montana. Just one of the many people who do phenomenal work in Texas with asylees:
Sister Norma Pimentel: The 100 Most Influential People of 2020
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.” These words from Matthew form the foundation of both the Catholic principle of faith through works and the life’s mission of Sister Norma Pimentel.

Sister Pimentel has been on the front lines of mercy for three decades, supporting migrants who are seeking refuge in the U.S. along Texas’ border with Mexico. As executive director of Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley, she directs efforts to provide shelter, food, sanctuary and comfort to people often treated as less than human. Her organization has housed and assisted well over 100,000 people at the border.

It takes an impressive amount of dishonesty to claim that we have "open borders" when Biden is literally being forced by Trump "judges" to enforce Trump's border policies.

Separately, we have a plan for what to do with asylees when they arrive. That's why Abbott and DeSantis resort to these idiotic stunts to get attention. Of course, they bank on their base being completely ignorant about how all of this works, and they're proven right again and again.

How many got aways are in our country illegally?
Do the democrats have the senate, congress and White House? What sweeping legislation have they passed to stop this influx?
And I believe immigrants claiming asylum have to do so at the firs country they come to… and for many of these immigrants that is Mexican. So no.. not legal.
And why the fuss? Many of these iTunes have bragged about being sanctuary cities. The migrants are being sent somewhere they are welcomed and wanted. Instead of being somewhere that is stressed and over burdened.

The Dems cannot pass legislation because the GOP Senate will not let that happen. Also, why do you guys only care about the border? Never a mention of the millions that have flown here and are now here illegally
