The Kharkiv counter-offensive reminds me of the year my Buchholz team played Gainesville High. Believe it was 1973. We knew we had no chance, but we had to deliver a mosquito bite if only for bragging rights. So we practiced a trick play all week. The trick play worked like a charm as we went up 6-0. Of course we missed the extra point. I think it only made GHS mad as they reeled off 56 straight points. There was a sideline brawl and we gave as good as we got there and felt like won.

Russia suffered 24 million civilian and military losses in World War II because Nazi Germany represented an existential threat to the Soviet Union. Unless I missed it there hasn't been a massive invasion of Ukrainian troops on Russian soil and the Ukrainians aren't shelling Moscow and/or St. Petersburg (Leningrad in World War II). Putin is losing and tragically he's going to take down tens of thousands of his fellow Russians with him as well as even more Ukrainians primarily innocent civilians including women, children and the elderly.
