To that end, Nya did put out a "last ride" video back in July, still lists herself as a UF gymnast on her Twitter account, and no announcement has been made indicating she has changed her mind about returning. I just find it odd she would not be listed on the official school roster unless it was an oversight, which I doubt. Hopefully it is just a case of her taking a semester off to pursue other opportunities with the intent to return in January.
Just wanted to let you know I'm leaving the site due to a bad experience on another board. I have always enjoyed our conversations. Keep gymnastics up front and good luck to you.
What?? Im so sorry you had a bad experience. There's not excuse for people being disrespectful on a UF Sports Board-there are way too many sites out there that already cater to hate and violence... I, too have really enjoyed our conversations. Your insight, knowledge and enthusiasm for our gymnastics team have been top notch! So many times I think I'm the 1st to have found important info re: Gator Gymnastics and enthusiastically rush over to gatorcountry.com to be the 1st to post it. But no, ETGator1 has beaten me to it again! If you join another site where there are knowledgeable and passionate dialogue taking place on non-revenue UF athletic sport teams, then please DM me. Because Gator Gymnastics will be making a lot of noise and accolades this season. Go Gators!!!
The latest NCAA WAG Roster and Commits update for Florida has removed Nya Reed's name. On twitter someone posted: Allegedly she was fired off the team for years of petty theft to former and current teammates so that’s probably why she’s removed but again i’m not sure how much of it is actually true so don’t quote me on it.
Kayla DiCello has also made the College Gym News list for Most Anticipated Elite Freshmen on Floor: As one of this year’s most-hyped freshmen, DiCello needs no introduction. While injuries mean she hasn’t been at her absolute peak in 2022, she’s still a Pan American champion on this event, with a double layout that could help her crack even Florida’s incredibly deep floor lineup. And for their Most Anticipated Elite Freshmen on Beam Like Frazier, DiCello’s beam routine has it all. While the Gators have plenty of depth on the event returning for 2023, it’s hard to imagine her not slotting into the lineup. And for their Most Anticipated Elite Freshmen on Bars: DiCello’s best international results have come on the leg events, but she is also very solid on the uneven bars. She has a whole bag of tricks she could potentially bring to college, but a particular highlight that’s likely to stick around is her Pak to Van Leeuwen combination in which she holds her legs perfectly together. And now she's made College Gym News Most Anticipated Elite Freshmen in the All-Around: The most anticipated series is back! We looked at the data and videos for each incoming elite freshman on each event to see which gymnasts are at the top of their class across the apparatuses and in the all around. This week we’re looking at the top elite all-arounders for 2023. Without as much data to work with as the level 10 rankings, and since many of the difficult routines will be downgraded once the gymnast gets to college, we focused on the factors that are typically the source of most deductions in NCAA: acrobatic form, flexibility, height, distance and rhythm. We also took into account the potential impact the gymnast could make to their school’s lineups. Kayla DiCello, Florida In terms of all-around credentials, it doesn’t get much better than a world bronze medal. Yes, Florida is beyond deep this year, and yes, DiCello isn’t even the only world all-around medalist on the team. Still, she’s a top contender for all four Florida lineups this year, and we expect her to pick up at least a few SEC Freshman of the Week awards. Go Gators!
Should be a fun year. Just really hope for a Jenny that they can finally get over the last hurdle and win one.
I read a comment from Nya Reed around August 13 or 14 that she wanted to be great, but she wanted to be happy. I wish I could find that again. It could be that she simply changed her mind. I don't believe the nasty rumor that was put out. That is the least likely occurrence insofar as I'm concerned. It could be that she decided to take the Fall Semester off and reevaluate come the end of the year. The tall blonde softball player who was dating Kyle Trask said she was coming back. Well, she didn't come back, and nobody ever clarified as to why she didn't come back after making her announcement. I hope somebody will say something on this. After 4 years with UF, there should be a closure even if Nya were to say I simply changed my mind.

College Gym News has feature article on 2024 Gator commit Danielle Ferris: Danielle Ferris Fulfills Childhood Dream with Commitment to Florida When Danielle Ferris was a child, she ate, slept and breathed Florida gymnastics. As a Florida native, she frequently attended Gator competitions. She took pictures with the current gymnasts on the team. She attended Gator camps and has videos on her phone of the Florida coaches spotting her there. Florida was all she knew and wanted, so Ferris was left in no doubt when on June 18 she received an offer to become a Gator on a full-ride scholarship for the 2024 season. She accepted on the spot. “I got a call on the 18th with an offer and I was very excited to accept it,” she said. “It was wonderful talking to all the UF coaches — they’re great people, and I cannot wait to get to know them more.” Ferris spoke for the first time with head coach Jenny Rowland and the rest of the Florida coaching staff on June 15, the first day she could commit to college. She also talked to eight other colleges and felt thankful to be able to speak “with all those great coaches and get to know them a bit.” Read full article Here:
Looks like highly ranked Avery Neff in the 24 season class took her 5th visit to Florida: Dr. Sam, PhD (@DrSam_PhD) / Twitter 4 for 2024! – A Look At The Recruits We’re Most Anticipating | NCAA Gymnastics | Inside Gymnastics | Inside Gymnastics Magazine She came to UF so one would think the Gators have a chance. A couple of comments on the picture at Dr. Sam's site says LSU or Utah. That might have been right until she visited UF. - College Gym News Avery Neff is rated #1 in the 2024 recruiting class. Danielle Ferris is rated #3. Two 5 stars, Skye Blakely and Shilese Jones, are committed to UF and have deferred until after the Paris 24 Olympics. UF also has 4-star Taylor Clark committed for 2024.
In Other UF News: 1. The team photographer at the team scrimmage recently said Nya Reed made the personal decision to not come back and that she is still at UF pursuing a pre-med program. 2. Kayla DiCello performed on bars only at the scrimmage as she has been seen wearing a boot since about September 26. This probably accounts for no news on her being at the World's tryouts with Leanne Wong. Get well for the season Kayla. In Non-UF News: 1. Former UF commit Olivia Greaves who landed at Auburn recently is having her 4th surgery. She posted something about a patella repair surgery. 2. Freshman Annie Beard of LSU is having shoulder surgery.
ET Gator, I thought I remembered you saying Shilese Jones had decided not to attend UF? She’s back in after the deferral?
No, it's just my opinion that Shilese Jones won't end up at UF or in school anywhere. If she makes the Paris 24 Olympics team which is likely, I can't see her passing up on her last opportunity to turn pro and perform at that level. College Gym News has her as a UF 24 commit and I've seen a few comments from Dr. Sam that indicates Shilese will come to UF after the Paris Olympics, but I see a person who will be turning 24 in her true freshman year. That is rare. It just makes more sense to me that she will use what she has left in her performing tank as a pro getting paid bigger dollars. Right now, the only high-level athlete that I can think of who came into college this late was Chris Wenke with FSU in football when he reversed out of baseball and back into college football. I hope Shilese comes to UF for her long-term future, but I think we stand a better chance if she doesn't make the Paris 24 team. Skye Blakely is different because she is several years younger than Shilese plus she would get to perform a year with sister Sloane Blakely.
