Here’s what we know. Trump took lots of classified documents. Was asked to turn them back over. Was subpoenaed to turn them over. Had a lawyer swear they were all turned over after diligent search. DOJ received accurate information documents were still with Trump and poorly stored confirmed by a legal warrant.

What part of that story has two sides? Your post may be worse than a true partisan. At least they are blinded by misplaced loyalty. I think your post is simply entirely disingenuous.

Doj will start raiding all the maga supporters next. If you ever gave him any money, watch out!

I couldn’t agree more with these two statements. And once I saw that we all see what we want to see, I realized that I needed to temper my own beliefs because I am included in “we all”. I believe I need to think more about why the other side has a different viewpoint.

The left sees a proper raid on a former president for improperly storing government documents. You see a huge government overreach on a president for properly holding onto presidential documents. How can we know which group is seeing it wrong? Personally, I would just wait until the investigation is complete. Either or maybe both sides will likely be in for a surprise.

PS About your second point on righteousness, I do think this is really important. We have gotten way too contemptuous of each other, and I think it’s a shame because we’re almost all good people. I also feel that I must bring up your hypothesis from the gender thread that the left is purposefully engineering a eugenics program in the USA in order to maintain political power. This seems like a pretty good example of what you and I are fighting against, te.

Prolly only the ones who stole classified materials. What happened to the Law and Order party?

I don't think you can call it "improperly storing government documents" at this point. It changes the nature of the discussion and no longer appears to be based in fact. By all accounts the documents were stolen.

When the cops find me with your car, Channing, I’m going to say I simply “improperly stored” it. :D

I can see the distinction you are trying to make. This doesn’t look good. The FBI clearly wrote three specific statutes in their filing. I’ll be happy to go along with any of them as long as the legal system finds him guilty.

I appreciate you trying to find objective middle ground on topics on this board. As I continue to say, I'm not sure how middle ground can be the expectation when people are unwilling to deal in reality. Not you, but you know what I'm getting at. Keep fighting the good fight. It isn't for me, unfortunately.

Biden's already set the stage with his speech the other day with maga supporters being a threat to our democracy. The way things are shaking out, if I ever gave trump any money or professed public support, I'd be expecting a raid any day.

Fascists have a different idea of law and v order. When it applies to them, they are the law, and can do what they please, and it's legal. For all who aren't part of the fascist in crowd, they are subjugated to all laws, and should always be prosecuted to its fullest extent.

When a fascist does break the law, and is caught, it's always an overreach. Then the fear mongering kicks in, and everyone in the group becomes a target. This way, they can become the sympathetic victims.

Last, and itv may be my bias talking, but I fail to see two sides to this story. Trump illegally had many of the highest levels of top secret docs stored illegally in his home that doubles as a county club. A club where known spies and imposters were known to be there. There is no excuse for this behavior.

Do you care to explain why this is a huge overreach by the DOJ or would you rather just foam at the mouth?

You all live in your corral of choice. Now let me fit this into my pre-existing narratives (globalists or some other sort of conspiracy) with absolutely no evidence because I chose this corral and call it "discernment," despite the complete lack of evidence, because wouldn't it be so exciting if it were true!

Here's a good article on why the docs being held at Mar-a-Lago is a big problem. The article quotes a former high ranking W official, high ranking Clinton official, and former DOJ lawyer who worked there for 30 years. In short, there is no excuse for the highest level of top secret docs to be held at Mar-a-Lago. They belong in a safe in a SCIF. And if anyone other than a former POTUS held these docs illegally, they'd already be locked up.

Absolutely, but, all the Clinton folks need to stay way out of it, and news shows shouldn’t book them. It just feeds the talking point narrative. I realize the normal experts have day jobs, but putting campaign folks from Dem/Gop on any issue is just asinine. Nice cloud.

It’s definitely a tough balancing act. And I don’t think a middle ground necessarily means a middle answer -clearly a woman can’t be half pregnant- but most of us seem to think the answer is always on our side. That seems unlikely, so I must be making some mistakes.

Given the evidence we’ve seen, it does seem very probable that Trump acted inappropriately, but this idea that he had something to do with the many killings of human assets seems like inappropriate speculation.

Perhaps I missed where the Clinton folks were campaign people and not WH admin.?
