Duke volleyball player takes racist abuse at BYU- can’t be confirmed

I really don’t think she is lying, and believes she heard it. It’s impossible to prove someone said it or didn’t say it. But like song lyrics that lots of people hear differently, I’m open to the idea she made an honest mistake.

 

I too am open to her thinking she heard a slur when in reality there was no slur. It's unfortunate because there are real cases of racism in the world, but this doesn't seem to be one. BYU did everything they could do and seems they went overboard. The real problem is USC basically saying BYU is racist and cancelling a future basketball game based off of something that was shown to not be true. USC looks really stupid right now.

 

But she said she heard it all throughout the match? Does that not strike anyone as odd? Multiple times of hearing something that wasn’t said? Doesn’t seem likely to me.

 

Has the Duke player and/or mom apologized/explained the misunderstanding? That would go a long way to correcting these things.

 

I think the player could be caught in the middle of mom embellishing a story. The mom from reports seems to be the biggest problem in this story. I am following from afar so not sure if anything has changed.

This isn’t a Smolletts situation. She did the right thing by reporting it to her coaches, just as the poster I was quoting said he would have confronted the crowd even if he was only 80% sure he heard it correctly.

What happened after that is out of her control.

 

Outside of the damage Smollett caused. He did make for a hilarious Inside the NBA segment…

 

I'm sure the people calling BYU racist will line up to apologize...


A statement from BYU Athletics regarding the investigation of the Aug. 26 volleyball match

 

Maybe a "my bad" is in order here after there was found to be zero evidence this actually happened.

 

Or maybe no one said anything at all. It was shown there wasn't any racial words said at the match.

 

Maybe a "my bad I was wrong" reply here would be appropriate.

 

Or you can say "I overreacted and I'm sorry" for thinking this was true before all the facts came out.

 

BYU did an investigation and said nothing happened. End of story.

 

And people who are race baiters call out racism when it isn't there.

No, not even close. See, i judge each issue independently. Something you can't seem to do unless it's a dem. Congrats on not owning up to it.

 

I never gave my opinion on whether this story was true or not. I simply said racists are mentally delayed creatures (fact) and I said that folks like yourself would rush in here telling people not to overreact (fact). Better luck next time!

 

South Carolina should reinstate the games they cancelled.
