He easily could have said not all "Trump supporters" are bad, which would have clarified some of the language he used.

Instead, he said not all "Republicans" are bad, and proceeded to lump in people who had questions about the 2020 election with the people who acted violently. He also proceeded to reference in the pro-traditional marriage and pro-life crowd with the "MAGA Republicans," as though he was trying to get people to associate pro-lifers and traditional Christians with "MAGA Republicans."

Then, he has the gall to call the speech unifying.

The speech could've been unifying, but it would've helped if he didn't spend his entire administration governing to placate the furthest fringes of his party, and if he was clearer in the language he used in referring to people who are a threat to Democracy. If his goal was truly uniting people, he certainly wouldn't have brought up abortion or gay marriage. In doing so, he united his base against Trump-friendly Republicans, even if those Trump-friendly Republicans aren't head over heels for Trump right now.

Also, don't cry because people are pissed that you called half of one's base (at least 35 million people if you're going by votes) deplorable. You do that on the grounds of racism/sexism/bigotry while calling everything you don't like under the sun racism/sexism/bigotry... and that's exactly how you get the middle finger that was the Trump Presidency in 2016. And don't expect a tear from me.

The fact is Democrats have gotten far worse in attempting to paint Republicans as evil, racist, or radicalized in the last decade. Well, they've overplayed their hand. They aren't persuading half the country anymore, they've alienated them, only feeding fodder to the radicals in their own base in the process. Well, they made their bed, now they can lie in it.

By insinuating that the Russians "stole" the election from Hillary... you are undermining faith in our elections. Just saying this makes you a threat to democracy.

You're doing the same thing Biden is complaining a lot of Trump supporters are doing.

I would posit that anyone STILL supporting trump is indeed a candidate for that anyway.

Hahaha. I reported the results of what a bipartisan committee of fact finders reported after a lengthy investigation and many witnesses.

    Thank you.

"Not all Republicans are bad guys. Not all are a threat to democracy... just the ones who are supporting my likely general election opponent in two years."

    Banana Republic stuff.

The committee found that Russians "interfered" in the election. It didn't find that Russians are what swayed the outcome.

You are misinterpreting data to suit political purposes, then calling me insane to try and shut me up. But hey, I'm sure the leftist posters here outraged over the insults will have your back because it's not the nastiness that pisses them off. It's the nastiness from people they don't like.

At this pt after Yuge gov Trump & his claiming everything from the Iowa caucus to the 2016 election to the 2020 election were systematically rigged, a banana republic is an aspirant country.

So I guess because “orange man bad,” your answer is burn it all down. No institution left is sacred?

If those are your thoughts at least be honest.

I am saying orange man has diminished us IMO to where in political terms, a banana republic would be a step up. I would very much like to take that step up & more, not burn it all down. But, there are times when one has to put on their big boy pants & call shitstains out. We can't always defer to the anti american snowflakes & their feelings.

Ahh… but who are these people? That’s the million dollar question.

And based on Democratic rhetoric in both this administration and the last decade, I think they’re going for a pretty broad definition.

Until January 2021 I WAS a registered Republican. But after that and all the support it received by congressional and everyday Republicans, I became NPA and until trump and his supporters are flushed from the American political scene I can’t imagine voting for another one. Ever.

    Well, that’s you.

Calling everyone who disagrees with you “threats to democracy” makes you a lost cause. No point in wasting my time with you.

Don’t start a conversation calling the other side evil, then expect civility and good faith in return. Youre going to get apathy or an ugly conversation.

Didn’t do any of those things. Find the word evil in any of my posts or quit making stuff up. Find where I stated that if you disagree with me you are a threat to democracy. You are being dishonest in your accusations.

If you want to die on the hill that you think "candidate for being bad" isn't the same as "candidate for being evil," be my guest.
