Should Men still attempt to help Women in Danger?

It's fair to say we should try to protect those that are being physically abused, regardless of race, gender or age.

It's a benefit of social animals.

I was taught to do the right thing. If I see a person being victimized I step in if necessary. I'm not breaking up a mutual fight regardless of the parties involved though. Not saying it's right at all to hit her but if she kept arguing then I'm out. Now if she was trying to get away, not fighting back etc I'm intervening in some way.

 

And for the record I have seen plenty of women intervening when someone is being victimized regardless of who is involved.

 

I just stay out of bars late at night and its amazing that I never see these things.

We just had a family tragedy with a cousin in the whole wrong place, wrong time thing. Devastating loss felt by many. Those living in Jacksonville (which is sort of our families patriarchal home) would have seen this on the news, though I wont tell you which story.

I'm home late at night with my wife and kids so my chances of needing to intervene with late night bar fights is very low.

 

Hello Orlando. It’s not a matter of the sexes - men helping women but a matter of protecting the (presumably) weaker more vulnerable from violence by a larger, stronger aggressor.

 

I tried to give the benefit of doubt that this is a different person with a sincere question but the doubling down on the women not helping men aspect reeks of Orlando in my opinion.

 

IMO - yep - the last paragraph reeks of disdain for women and gives him away.

 

At the very least report it to the cops. Give them the license plate number. They will then stop them on the road home or will check up on them later.

 

I agree. Call the police and say a woman is being beaten in the parking lot because the police are trained to handle domestic disputes, not you. You don’t know the situation, or the mental stability of those involved.

Once in college I saw a woman getting the crap kicked out of her. I intervened and the guy beat the snot out of me. I thought I did the right thing until I saw them back together 3 weeks later acting all lovey dovey

 

When someone needs help, you help them as best you can. Sometimes the only help you can give is to inform the police.

 

I will add this to my comment above.

IF that was one of my daughters and she was badly injured and I found out you did nothing. Your next issue would be with a man. So either way you will be face to face with one. Might as well make it against the bad guy.

To not call the police is negligence and makes you a criminal in my book.

 

I think I’d at least film it and say something and call the cops. I sure wouldn’t want to get my ass stomped!

 

If the issue with a man is verbal then no problem. If the issue is physical then your next issue would be with the authorities.
