The problem is as @gator95 said, many Republicans have just “moved on”, but that’s not enough in this climate. They need to denounce and reject. Stop making excuses for illegal behavior. Stop denying the election results. Stop saying attempts to hold people accountable are not valid or required by law.
Hey man, the Dems we’re doing the same thing in 2016. Don’t remember any Dems denouncing those people. It’s enough in this climate. Just be a normal person and discuss your platform and see where the chips fall.
*sigh* again with the hairsplitting over a common colloquial term "democracy". Yeah, we get it, we are a republic for the millionth time
I don’t think that Hilary or the Dems went anywhere near the level of President Trump and his supporters. We had a group violently enter The Capitol, with the intent to stop the certification of the election. They are also threatening further violence. It needs to be denounced, not ignored.
Violently enter the capital with no weapons? Yeah, that sounds like a brilliant way to stop the certification of the election. So some nutjobs went too far. Prosecute them. Do the same to the rioters and looters on the Black lives matter riots. There was uproar, but since it's your side you don't think it near the level. It happened.
First of all, I don’t think rioting and looting was sanctioned, organized, defended or promoted by Democratic politicians. I will tell you straight up that those people were criminals and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Period, point blank. No qualifiers. I also don’t think they are legitimate protestors. They were opportunists who took advantage of the situation. Second, many of the 1/6ers were armed. Even if they weren’t, that wouldn’t have excuses or diminished what they did. I don’t get why every attempt to hold certain groups accountable must first pass the test of whether another group was held accountable. We can talk about these things separately.
I said prosecute all the people who broke the law, what more do you want? Tar and feather? Many of the 1/6ers were armed? How many? what defines many? 2?
What caused you to ask the first question? Did I demand more from you that I am not aware of? As far as how many were armed, obviously you know I don't know the answer to that. We saw some with improvised weapons, some with defensive gear, and we have reports of firearms present. Your guess is as good as mine. I'd say many is more than 20. I'd guess it was far more than that, but I have no proof, I'm guessing. Apparently, President Trump knew they were armed.
I’m personally tired of Trump and say good riddance. Yes, we’re in the throes of decades-high inflation, an unprecedented border crisis, our major cities have become feral and we’re flirting with WWIII ... but at least no more mean tweets!
Decades high inflation, yes. But it's supply driven, as much of production was shut down world-wide due to COVID. Inflation has also shown signs of slowing down. Last report had inflation at 0% Month-over-Month. Next report will likely show something similar. As for unprecedented border crisis. In terms of what? People crossing? Let's take a look. Not even close to highest numbers in the last 25 years. As for cities being feral, that's funny. In the past few weeks, I've spent time in downtown Phoenix, Tucson, and Seattle. Seems to be business as usual in these three western cities with total metro populations of over 1 million. Crime stats also support this. Homicides have ticked up, but we are nowhere near the high rates of the past. And while the mean tweets were bad and unnecessary, it's the MAGA fascism that's truly a danger. Trump lost, and yet, two years later, he's still blabbering about winning. And election deniers are winning R primaries in large numbers. That's a threat to American democracy (a colloquial term, as yes, we are a Constitutional Republic).
As I said, decades high ... This is the worst inflation in nearly 40 years. But it was so much worse back then - CNN
When you’ve lost CNN ... Migrants from multiple countries overwhelm US-Mexico border, adding to Biden administration's challenges - CNNPolitics
Or you can just google pictures of Portland, Minneapolis, Philly, etc ... Savagery in America is symptom of an increasingly disordered world
Unprecedented was the word you used. Yet, in this linked article, is this exact sub-head: 'We haven't seen these numbers since the Haitian migrant crisis' I think you need to look up unprecedented in the dictionary. By the way, the Haitian migrant crisis was in the early to mid 1990s, and not represented on the chart above. And yes, inflation is at record levels over the last 40 years. But it's supply side problems. For decades, better tracking, transportation and data analysis has improved our just-in-time supply chain. A JITs has the goal of the product being stocked on the shelf the moment a consumer reaches for it to purchase. JITs lowers or eliminates the need for large warehouses to store product plus overstocks, and makes transportation of goods more efficient. All of which helped keep inflation low for decades. The issue with JIT? Any major disruption in the chain and you get major bottlenecks. Like say, a global pandemic that shuts down manufacturing in countries for months. Ask any Econ 101 student what happens to prices when demand stays but supply drops. If they don't say they go up, they need to go back to high school. But again, hopefully the supply chain has normalized, as we did say zero inflation MoM in August. As for crime rates, yes, they are going up. But are they at panic, record levels worthy of stating our cities are in a feral state? I'll let this chart from Philly give you my answer. Oh, and Trump still lost.
Oh, I’m fairly satisfied that ... “Highest in 40 years” matches up with “decades high” “Worst since Haitian crises” is not entirely out of kilter with “unprecedented” “Savagery in America” sounds like “feral” Throw you a bone: while I can easily imagine that sufficient tens of thousands of fraudulent votes might have been enough to throw the election, I can just as easily imagine that Trump was (and still is) living YUGELY and rent-free in 80 million American’s heads. *you left out the WWIII part and Doomsday Clock at 11:59 and all that stuff.
