Nah. He keeps this thread going and provides many opportunities to intelligently refute misinformation.
113 contained classified information, and three of those had classification markers. In a sign of the uncertainty around classification, in 2018, a Justice Department report found that the classification markings were not clear. “The e-mails were never marked as classified because these were communications from unclassified government accounts,” Moss said. In three instances, email chains included information with classification markers. It was never clear that Clinton was aware of the presence of that marked information, or if the classification marking was clear. https://www.poynter.org/fact-checki...tons-emails-and-donald-trumps-boxes-of-files/ Only the most ludicrous of partisan hacks would try to compare these situations. At best, Trump was collecting trophies or blackmail material. At worst, he did or planned to sell this information to foreign actors. There was never any intent of wrongdoing by Clinton.
It is stealing to keep them. Like selling your car to someone and not giving it to them. You had a lawful right to the car. But, after you sole it, it belongs to someone else.
I like the analogy but even that's somewhat of a stretch. It's my understanding that the documents really weren't his even when he was president; they belonged to the American people. Using the car analogy it's kind of like leasing a car and selling it to a third party just before the lease expires. Even though you may have had exclusive right to the vehicle during the term of the lease it was never yours to sell.
Right. They were never his but he could take them without stealing while president. Term ends, no longer any right to possess them. Refuse to give them back and it is stealing.
As long as you keep getting this typical nonsensical redacted bullshit reasoning from the doj, a lot of people are naturally going to be very skeptical and pissed, you guys can dismiss it all you want.
For the most part, the redactions are there to protect witnesses but also to effectively investigate the case. The DOJ owes nothing to the American people. Anyone with half a brain who takes the time to read the details of the case can figure it out but only if they’re ignoring Trump’s ridiculous assertions.
There is a reason why the references were redacted in the affidavit. A number of the documents were classified Top Secret or Top Secret SCI. Even an indirect identification beyond their classified status could compromise national security although I guess a lot Trump's supporters feel the same way about national security as their Dear Leader i.e. it really doesn't matter. Similarly, supporters of Trump as well as the Dear Leader himself would have preferred that the witnesses and FBI agents responsible for obtaining the warrant were identified so that they could be doxxed, harassed and their lives threatened or even put in jeopardy.
Do you have any evidence of Trump's intention for those documents? Also, Hillary didn't need intent of "wrongdoing" to be prosecuted by the FBI under 18 U.S. Code § 1924, she only needed intent to retain classified materials at an unauthorized location. And according to the FBI, Clinton basically claiming she didn't know they are classified is enough to turn a blind eye and not look deeper. Frankly, you are in no position to lecture anybody on partisan hackery, that's basically your entire identity.
Trump never misses an opportunity to milk the gullible sheep of MAGA nation. This meme comes immediately to mind with the caption being updated to read "Pretend that the FBI conducted an illegal raid on your Mar-a-Lago estate".
Hillary could have been charged. But the precedent set by the DOJ in these cases are if the person cooperates with the investigation, and has no I'll intent, no charges. If there's interference with the investigation, either charges or often a misdemeanor plea to avoid jail time. Ironically, Trump did away with the possibility of pleading to a misdemeanor in 2018. And while we don't know Trump's intent, how lack of cooperation and interference is clear. He didn't return all classified materials to NARA when asked. Lied on the affidavit about returning all classified materials, and then didn't give up the classified materials when subpoenaed.
I do actually. So does anyone with an operable brain stem. Let's set aside for a moment the concept that his entire life prior to this issue is contemptible corruption and focus only on this situation, shall we? 1. He had multiple chances over a year to return all this material and refused to. After his attorney had certified he had returned all of it, they found dozens more items after they executed the search warrant. 2. Trump's first announcement was this was a political attack ordered by Joe Biden. Biden has denied this and there is no proof whatsoever of this. 3. Then we heard "the president can declassify anything." There is no evidence that he ever did this and it's irrelevant to the prosecution anyway which doesn't hinge on classification. 4. The next excuse was that the FBI planted the documents there. Why would classification matter if the documents had been planted? 5. The next salvo was that Obama did the same thing after his presidency. The National Archives quickly scuttled this one that Obama's document preservation policy was completely proper. 6. Next Trump tried to lie and say he had been working in good faith with the DOJ but Garland laid the smack down by revealing the facts in #1. 7. The next attempt was the ludicrous concept that anything Trump took to the WH residence was declassified by official policy. Of course, there is no paper trail on this because it wasn't true. 8. The next excuse Fox News rolled out was that packing to leave the WH was done at the last minute and not by Trump. Completely irrelevant to the charges at hand. There's no way you could be a parent because if a kid gave you 8 reasons this ludicrous as to why they did something wrong and you believed any of them they should be turned over to foster care immediately. Also, if Hillary had attempted even 2 excuses as silly as any of these, she long ago would have been locked in a Supermax prison--just where Trump belongs.
He seems to be taking it well. Of course, all the people that freaked out about Biden’s speech (which was inappropriate in my mind) will cheer this on loudly and completely oblivious to their own hypocrisy. Trump Calls Biden ‘Enemy of the State’ at First Rally Since FBI Raid, Accuses Him of Delivering Most ‘Hateful’ Speech Ever By a President
One side is standing on this perceived moral high horse, when they're really just the flip side of Trump's coin with a better relationship with the media and the current Department of Justice, where both like to stroke their egos.
