That type of comment is so one sided. By that you mean you want Conservatives to lay down, give up all our beliefs and just be doormats for you. Is it not enough that RINO Republicans and Fox News are for the most part nothing more than controlled opposition? Sure we would have a nice society with a nice functioning country/government, with half of its citizens having to hide what they really believe. With half of us being mentally enslaved. Same thing with how liberals always expect conservatives to "compromise" when liberals themselves with never compromise. Sorry if we would rather burn everything down fighting than living how you would want us to live, as mental slaves where our beliefs, our values, our opinions have no say or voice.
Why get snippy with one of the top posters on too hot? He is one of the few at attempting objectivity and understanding.
I’m sorry but I’m confused. Are you making a statement of fact without any evidence to back it up, or are you making a joke? It feels like the latter. I can’t comprehend any business turning away superior talent based on race, gender, national origin, or sexual orientation.
How does my comment have anything to do with Herschel Walker? And yes I'm so evil, I want the most qualified person to get the job. Not someone less qualified to get the job just because they are a minority and/or check a box for a corporation.
As I said, I’m not actually criticizing the speech, but the effects. Therefore, I would argue the effects are the appropriate data for my analysis. That said, I am curious about your disagreement. If you believe the speech was unifying, how do you square that with so many on the right objecting to it so vehemently?
I've had it happen twice. The first time was the most egregious, a colleague I worked with ironically had switched over to the recruiting department for the company I work for. He flat out told me off the record that they were told by a SVP and the head of HR to make the department more "diverse". Almost all of the candidates hired (about 15) for the department were women, black or hispanic. No white males were hired. They interviewed us but as I learned later the interview was essentially a farce, I had no genuine chance of being selected. And this was a position I had left several years ago pre-pandemic. I had already done the job for 2 1/2 years previously. Some of the people they hired had no previous experience in the department. So please tell me how those other candidates were better qualified? I wouldn't have known any of this if I didn't have a colleague who was in that department. Due to that I wouldn't have enough to go after my employer for damages. But do not tell me it doesn't happen.
I see your point, but it appears the time for patience with the MAGA’s has passed. With everything that has been shown if any Republican voter still supports Trump then either they’re willfully ignorant, or they’re not conservative republicans, they’re MAGA.
You’re asking me to prove the other candidates were better by not knowing a thing about the candidates, or if your testimony is even true. I’m not calling you a liar because I don’t have any evidence you are, but I was looking for something a little more evidence driven.
It's been my experience that those who claim they lost out on a job because of affirmative action weren't nearly qualified to have the job in the first place. I'm sure there are exceptions, but I've yet to encounter them personally. I'm talking the recent grad who is white losing out to the minority with an advanced degree type of whining from the white guy. As for conservatives, no, the left doesn't want to mute your ideas. They are welcome in the marketplace. What isn't acceptable? Whining about a stolen election when there is zero evidence of any widespread fraud. Defending racists like Trump did in Charlottesville, defending the abuse of Presidential power by illegally withholding funds to Ukraine until you get dirt on a political rival. Or how about excusing a past President when he's illegally keeping Top Secret docs in an unsecure location, and lying about having them. There are plenty of Republicans whose ideas I don't necessarily agree with. Mitt Romney and Liz Cheney, for example. But I can at least respect them, because they have respected our Constitutional Democracy, our political norms, and I don't consider them dangerous to the fabric of our society. Trump and his sycophants? They are Nationalistic Fascists, who believe they are entitled to rule, and don't care what happens to those who don't agree with them. That's not what this country is about, nor should be about.
Nothing snippy about it. This board is not an objective reading of tea leaves, especially when a lot of people admitted that they didn't watch the speech. How can one understand something/comment on it if they didn't see it or read it? My point being that one shouldn't take too much from this board, that's all.
I guess you didn't even bother to read my last post. I had previously worked in the position for 2 1/2 years with nothing but positive PDP/reviews each year by the head of our department. The head of our department even went out of his way to chat with me before the interview (the head and 2 HR leaders were doing interviews simultaneously). In no scenario am I not offered a spot assuming they are hiring the most qualified individuals. They ended up picking individuals who had little to no experience in the department. All because corporate HR and a SVP told them to "diversify" the department. Even people who were currently in the department were stunned I wasn't selected.
Because the truth hurts some folks and there is NO unifying with MAGAs anyway. Unifying for everyone that doesn't want to tear our system apart.
You should have told them you identify as a Gator. That might have helped your diversify index score.
