“Defund the police” definitely was terrible branding. I’d say the only “crime” I supported during the riots was the unsanctioned toppling of Confederate statues on public land. I will wholeheartedly admit to that, and I do recognize the illegality of it. If someone wants to take me to task for not opposing that, I will concede.
Well unfortunately the Republican Party hasn’t left me with an option. I have little choice but to vote whoever is running against a Maga candidate because Maga candidates are so far from aligning with me politically I could never vote for them. I live in Georgia and can assure you, no matter who runs against Herschel Walker, they will get my vote.
The scary part is how well Herschel Walker is doing considering how insanely dumb and off in the head the guy is. Then again, this is the same state that voted MTG in so I shouldn’t be surprised.
I’ve lived in GA for decades. My prediction is that Kemp wins by 3-4 points (larger margin than last time) and Warnock wins by a smaller margin, maybe a point and a half IF MODERATES TURN OUT. There are likely still enough moderates who just can’t pull the lever for Walker once inside the booth. The guy can’t express what he stands for without someone whispering in his ear, and when left to speak a paragraph instead of a crafted marketing sentence he makes the greatest word salads in the Republican Party. It’s just an embarrassment that he’s even running at all with so many other true conservatives in the state who would have been a better option. Comical how many righties are crucifying Biden today for being divisive after cheering Trump for the past 6 years like they were at a drunken frat party while he made derogatory comments about anyone and everyone, starting with the escalator speech and continuing through all the garbage today he spews at his stupid rallies..
Walker is unfit. If he gets elected, the progress I thought Georgia was making was all smoke and mirrors.
To be fair, only people in the 14th District voted for her. The state of GA voted for Biden, Warnock and Ossoff.
And yet I'm sure you won't say the same thing about Fetterman who (by your standard) would be equally unfit. The guy won't debate and literally was incoherent in that one campaign appearance.
Well, I don’t really need to say the same. We can disagree. I don’t want to go to war with you over the disagreement, though. I think that is a major difference between us.
Back to Biden’s speech. I don’t think he was wrong, but did his speech accomplish anything other than reinforce the same concern and resentment?
Fetterman certainly has his issues and is likely misleading about his health, but he at least has served publicly before and has always lived in PA. Walker hasn’t lived in GA for decades (still doesn’t) and Oz lives in NJ and votes in Turkish elections. Pennsylvanians have 2 pretty bad choices.
Whew! Only page 9, just in time - In before this gets corrected! You know all of those levelheaded, rational pub/cons that don't know any MAGAs, don't believe any of the polling, and are quick to correct any lib/dem that says or implies that MAGA controls the Pub party - I'm sure they just haven't seen this thread yet and will be piling on at any moment to correct these overzealous (and possibly imaginary) MAGA supporters.
So just to confirm in your opinion Walker is unfit but Fetterman isn't? I'm not a huge fan of Walker but if I was in GA and it was either him or Warnock I'm voting for Walker without a second though. You mentioned Walker can't really speak but yet say nothing about Fetterman who is rarely making public appearances and when he does is essentially incoherent. So I ask again, why are you not applying the same standard?
His public service means nothing. The fact is he's barely been seen and has been incoherent after the stroke. Yet no attach on Fetterman's fitness to serve.
Freudian slip on your part? I don’t recall saying Walker can’t speak, I said he is unfit. Full disclosure, I do agree with it even if I didn’t say it.
This merely speculation but I think the Democrats are concerned about the growing extremist inclinations of the Republican party introduced by its MAGA contingent. By trying distinguish MAGA from the rest of the GOP, Biden might be trying to remove some of the GOP cover MAGA has enjoyed. This carve out may energize mainstream GOPrs to distance themselves from the fascist elements. I think it's a good move. I fear my utter distain for MAGA has led some of my Republican friends to infer I felt the same toward them. This may help with that. I miss talking policy with them.
And yet will not apply the same standard to Fetterman. Good to know. More evidence that this country has split in two right down the middle and there is no middle ground. There is no repairing the rift.
