Looking past the gotcha videos and taking your claim for the sake of argument, your first sentence and second are not inherently connected. We could just as easily show a video of terribly sick people in the hospital, note that people who think those outside of hospitals are just as sick have their heads buried in the sand, and then claim hospitals are failing.
If we had magically enacted anyone's preferred policies in dealing with COVID, ranging from absolute safety to completely ignoring it, there would be massive disruption in the educational system, whether its sick faculty and students missing instruction time, people leaving the profession because of the working conditions, kids being pulled out of school by cautious parents, and remote learning for whatever reasons whether its precautionary or necessary to continue classes.

There were risks being at home, everyone had risks. Kids were not vectors of transmission compared to adults. Kid's don't get sick from covid hardly at all. I and many others were right about this in summer of 2020. This is part of the problem. People not taking blame for what happened. It was wrong. Other countries didn't shut down. We listened to the teachers unions and our cdc was seriously influenced by the unions. Sad. Vote everyone out who did this.
I think if you think there was not going to be a disruption with COVID even if they'd listened to super smart people like you, you might not be as super smart as you think

Homeschooling is the clear answer for any family with the means and support structure to pull it off. That may include one spouse dropping their career to tutor the kids. It’s what we did, and lost wages of almost $90k/year and access to cheaper benefits to make it all work. Kids are worth hefty sacrifices.

We went the private school route, cost a shit load of money but was well worth it for our boy. And + 1000, you only get one shot at it....

Here's a critical breakdown at the end of the article linked by the OP: Math scores also fell across the country, "eight points in the Northeast, nine points in the Midwest, seven points in the South, and five points in the West," according to a news release about the survey. Reading "scores fell seven points in the Northeast, seven points in the Midwest, and six points in the South" but there was no measurable difference in reading schools in the West. Data in the West is dominated by CA with the West doing the least bad while having some of the longest school closures. I personally wanted my kids back in school at the earliest reasonable point, though!

Yeah, Stanton's a good school for sure but we basically followed the natural progression from grade, middle to high school. Lot's of good friends, sports buddies and such.
