didn’t he take a pay cut for a longer deal? Maybe they thought he is their last hope.

Their only hope is to open up the checkbook and get some talent.

Well-we paid/are paying 3 coaches to get lost...
I never wanted Frost (came from ucf-ugh, ) or Chip Kelly (looked like an old fuddy duddy)-I wanted Bob Stoops :) I didn't want or even know who Muschamp or McElwain was-sorry to say-I had to get to know them-and didn't like want I had to see ..I heard of Mullen of course-didn't want him either at first-but then I grew to accept him-it went down hill for me with him during the 2020 year-especially after the shoe throwing incident-and forget last year-last 3 coaches had 1 losing season with us-that is totally unacceptable..

My only problems with Stoops were:

    1) He’s already been to the top of the mountain so how much drive would he have to do it again from scratch here? Which leads to point 2

    2) How long would we have him before hanging it up and retiring (see point 1 above, and re: SOS at USCe)

Think we’re way better off with Napier in the long run

I only wanted Stoops because I thought he could be a stabilizing force. 5-8 years, then leave a strong program for younger blood. That said, very happy with CBN.

I read somewhere that his buyout is 15 million now but 7.5 million on November 1.

I have a buddy that’s a booster for big red nation. He lives just outside of Lincoln. He’s still supportive of Frost but admits that he’s been given more rope than many would receive given his strong Nebraska ties. The tenor seems to be that they really want it to work. He also admitted that the grumbling is getting louder and that anything short of a New Years Day bowl will make it a very hot seat indeed. Part of the compromise was forcing Frost to relinquish play calling duties to give him more time to handle the CEO aspects of running the program. They paid good money to lure Pitt’s OC to the corn fields and are expecting return on that investment. The NW game showed flashes but their D couldn’t stop a mediocre NW offense. He told me the OC change bought Frost 2 years in his opinion. If there isn’t improvement that rises to competing to be in the conference title game by then we may see NU cut bait with one of their favorite sons.

This is how I felt about Mullen. Never felt he could get UF to natty title level, felt he would raise the "floor" of the program and stabilize UF.

According to the FSU fans Bob Stoops will never leave FSU.
