In 18, 19 and 20 we got only 6 of the top 30 Olinemen from Florida. Including Wilson walker and Hammond who didn’t stick so 3/30. And not any better overall. The ones we got became serviceable but Poor recruiting in Florida at every position has haunted us for too long.
So yes M/H didn’t do historically bad but not good/good enough.

Well if you lose the last game of the year, that’s easily figured out.

I hope our OL’s secret weapon isn’t a disagree bacon button.

You say our offensive line dominated Alabama but that same offensive line got dominated by UGA last year. It’s easy to pick and choose performances. This is a recruiting board and when it comes to recruiting offensive linemen, we are far behind UGA and bama right now- both who have won SEC and national championships recently. We have not.

I am not going to take the time to display or promote the opinions of evaluators(?) that rank OLs. I see one opinion that we have some pretty good players- starters returning from a unit that did pretty well last season. Others that rank our OL low, or more like honorable mention. Our OL recruiting hasn't been good and not near the level of the teams we have to get past to win the East. I suppose what really matters are the DL/Front sevens we play. Our OLs do not play their OLs. Nonetheless, it is hard to understand why a poster would claim adamantly that Mullen/Havesy recruited OL well. It seems like they were scrambling every cycle. My opinion is, we had one good OL class and that is based on numbers and decent rank of the players.

If it turns out a relatively unheralded group of OL can develop and play well against SEC front sevens then maybe we don't need the blue chip level alabama and georgia recruit and going forward we should just land 5 lower ranked OL each cycle and build from there. But I doubt that's the answer.

Can a 2 or 3 star recruit become a good SEC lineman? Yes. Do you want to rely on that consistently? No.

Unless you are going to recruit 6+ a cycle. The difference in rankings between most of georgia's over the past four cycles and UF's is significant. But that's just comparing OLs. OLs don't play one another. We want our players to excel, no doubt. It's quite a reaction that Donzo had. I hope he's right. I'll never be upset that the Gators turn out to be a fierce football machine. Dear lord I hope we beat Utah, and that georgia loses to their former DC.

Everyone in the country is behind those idiots. Our guys played inspired football against Bama and were in a completely different frame of mind by the time we played the puppies. Our offense of line is not that good or that bad but somewhere in between. They are pretty decent if they want to be

actually you can build a good OL with mostly 3* kids but they have to be high 3*s with some 4* kids mixed in. This year 247 lists 4 5* and 50 4* kids and that seems like a lot more than when I looked it up several years ago. There just aren’t that many 4* or better. Our problem was we were not even getting the better 3* kids.

Let's imagine that Mullen/Hevesy were able to win one battle for the major OL prizes in the past few years. And let's make this almost a layup from one of our hotbeds of recruiting in Tampa And let's make that player Petit-Frier in 2018. By 2020 he takes over LT and our steady 2020 LT takes over RT and continues to dominate. What might have happened. We likely are 2020 SEC champions and maybe we are excoriating TG's horrible defenses in 2021 from the position of being national champion instead of wondering what could have been if a bounce went our way. We were not headed to NC with Hevesy. We won in spite of him.

I'm not going to imagine anything Mullen/Hevesy. That ship has sailed and it's time to heal, move on and embrace positivity.

We have some pretty good 3* guys. Think who you are referring to.

Not sure what lesson this teaches or how it fits in this thread’s debate - but high 5-star Alabama pedigreed OT Alex Leatherwood was just cut by Vegas after only one season in the pros.

O'Cyrus Torrence was a 3-star. I’ll take 5 of him all day everyday.

Pro’s don’t really tolerate cheating as much as college, they all have a vested interest in winning games.

It’s true that we have not had the elite lineman. But we do have a line that’s about to get drafted in the NFL. It’s not all bad

Well at least one is projected to be first or second team All American but he came with the CBN package.
