There is something seriously wrong with the training for Law Enforcement officers

If he were a black guy holding a gun and arguing with police and refusing to show an ID at a crime scene who got shot this thread would never have made it 3 hrs without a comment. But it is a white guy just holding a gun I think that speaks loads about some of the folks who jump at every opportunity. Apparently there is not a lot of outrage when the story doesn't fit an agenda.

That was tragic and completely preventable.

Poor white guys. Always the victims.

 

Why did he have a gun in his hand? Was there a shooting that causes the injury and he got his own for protection or to be a “good guy with a gun”? Probably should have put it away when the police got there. I could hear someone in the video say something like “that guy has a gun in his hand and he pointed it at me” so police may have thought he was the shooter…

Edit, I didn’t see the beginning of the video where the situation was explained. I think the cops should have given him longer to comply, but don’t be an idiot walking around with a gun in your hand at the scene of a double shooting/murder attempt… common sense…

 

So why did the guy have a gun? Big tunnel vision at beginning while looking to render aid.

 

I literally thought it was a training video of what not to do. That was terrible policing. I do feel for cops with instant life and death decision making but “with great power comes great responsibility”.

Am I wrong? I don't even remember a thread when it happened, if there was one it didn't get near the bad cop reaction most police shootings get here and this thread went 3 hrs without a comment. Just sayin something is quite obvious here.

police can never do anything wrong in his eyes, so you can already imagine what his feelings on the video are

I started a thread about Rayshard Brooks's death a few days ago. Got zero responses.

 

Geez, what the hell was the guy doing holding a gun right next to LEOs? That was dumb, but I also feel like this was a bad shoot. As mentioned, they gave him almost zero chance to comply.

 

Graphic is right! I didn't see him raise the the gun. He had his other arm "pushing' toward the deputies and I thought I heard him say " no, no" a couple of seconds before he wss shot. The shooting seemed unnecessary, but I hasten to add I wasn't there. Guy should have immediately dropped the gun, but he probably panicked when he saw the deputy yelling and pointing his gun at him. Just a terrible outcome.
I have no idea what gator515151 is complaining about. I seem to remember him quickly coming out and defending Chauvin in the Floyd murder.

 

Smh. Again. Incompetence more than anything. And I say that with full acknowledgement that intensity of a situation and anti police/non compliance contributes to a lot of these situations. Still though, as much as I defend police there is a dearth of training regarding hot scenes/split decision thinking and managing adrenaline.

I hate these situations. I don't see this cop as some blood thirsty bad cop like many like to vilify but the consequence of his action is as significant as it gets. Does it serve the community any purpose to charge him and send him to prison? How do you give the victims family justice without doing so? Just a bad situation all around.
