And Florida’s population has grown from the 26th most pupulous state when I was in college to third. This movement trend has been around for a long time. So, your conclusions, like most of the other right wingers, are wrong. And there is nothing free about Florida. Just look at the “stop woke” law, which was cheered by you right wingers and, predicatably, declared to violate the First Amendment

I always find it kind of funny how obsessed so many Floridians are about New York and Cali. And Portland - can’t forget Portland.

 

The in-migration is also a significant factor in pricing long term Florida residents out of the housing market. If you already own a home or condo you're benefiting from the market. If one is in the market for a new home especially if not already a current homeowner or if one is a renter he or she is in deep excrement.

yeah, I hear a lot about Chicago from my family. My wife is from there and every time she’s among my side of the family they want the dirt on that cesspool of gun violence

 

The old FHA 235 program allowed first time buyers to purchase new homes with no money down, it didn't subsidize interest rates and by the way the program was discontinued by Congress in 1989 in response to the high default rate of buyers/borrowers under the program.

 

I always thought the 6th borough was Ft. Lauderdale. I still hear (and use) the term though.

I and my parents are Florida natives, but living in the Panhandle now, I have been told I carry a touch of New York accent.

As an aside, UF has among the lowest tuition costs in the country for this reason. All of these retirees pay taxes, but don't cut into the state's budget on its primary expense (education)
