But there is a difference between talking about widely accepted scientific and medical findings vs. crack pot conspiracy theories. I think its worth pointing out that the people passing along bad information, while acting like they are an authority on the topic, are actually not knowledgeable people.

if people are dumb enough to use too hot for their vaccine advice, then I don't think pointing qualifications out is gonna make much difference.

Our policy is to let unvaccinated people sit together and not let a person play in the event.

The risk gradient of this disease is known and has been known.

The good news is the likes of fauci and public health officials who have provided us this ridiculous policy are a minority. The bad news is they are continuing to damage public health by enforcing policy that is the antithesis of science.

I read it as it is stupid that arguably the best player on the planet is excluded from one of the sports biggest stages because he doesnt have a shot that has long since lost a lot of its effectiveness.

This is Tom Brady being kept out of the Super Bowl type stuff.

Its 100% newsworthy and unquestionably a standalone topic.

We can debate about whether a vaccine requirement is needed for any visitor or not. However, I disagree with making exceptions for Joker just because he is an exceptional athlete. How do you personalize entry requirements based on how many miles a person can run or how many hours they sit in a hyperbaric chamber?

also, these are his past indiscretions with COVID:

I mean, you have to earn your credentials here. It's why people have trusted me as an insider ever since we hired Chip Kelly.

The main point of the thread is our public health leaders continue to ignore science. It is extremely damaging to our future as we need a public health leadership we can rely on and trust.

Outside of the data (the risk gradient for this disease is crazy huge for elderly and certain immunocompromised)…the red flags of how public health handled this pandemic and Covid shot solidified the reasons I did not take it after consulting with those in medicine.

I just listened to a podcast from a year ago from two doctors. Both already vaccinated. It was a fascinating listen as they discussed what was sold to us and knowing where they are now. You would have though there is little to no chance to ever get Covid if you got the shot. At the same time the discussion of giving the shot to younger and younger people was discussed. The and Prasad (progressive liberal Doctor) who is super solid on medicine made the argument then that it is really questionable on how this was an “emergency” for kids. And “emergency” is a requirement for EUA. Clearly this disease was never an “emergency” for kids. No way this shot ever gets EUA approval in normal times for kids. Especially after Monday Morning QB.

We need to clean house from the public health officials who have led through this disaster so we can regain trust. The doctors on the front lines were let down. I would have been willing to see some grace with these people actually changing with the data. But here we are allowing unvaccinated people to sit in stands. Allowing me an unvaccinated American to leave the country and come back in and not a twice infected once with presumably omicron/subvariant. It makes no scientific sense. That is besides the point these shots are archaic now.

We should have had an omicron version yesterday. But we put our money with Pfizer and Moderna. Moderna just threw away 30 million doses. When will some start to see the reality?

What a sad joke. There is no reason for this at this point. The vaccines after just weeks even with a 4th shoot is almost no protection against spread or infection.

Science went out the window a long time ago. It’s all theater and politics now.

People are dying because they were forced to take that experimental garbage... NOT AT ALL FUNNY.

To try to address the original question: yes it does seem a bit inconsistent to be denying him entry for not being vaxxed at this point.

That said, has their ever been a national policy that doesn’t be up having some perverse outcomes for some individuals? It seems impossible.

It would also be inconsistent if the US were to let him in and keep denying ordinary schlubs for the same reason.

So yes, I think it would be fine to let him compete without being vaccinated, but finding a seemingly unjust outcome of a federal policy doesn’t raise my eyebrows. I also think it would be fine for Djokovic to just take the shot, since it’s been given to hundreds of millions of people at this point.

The real point is that our policy is anti-science.

Shoot. We are about to have the bivalent booster available. But they are going to require you to take the original two mRNA jabs to get it lol.

We really need to clean house in our public health leadership…

There is reason and having an honest discussion on data. Then there is having so much smoke blown up your arse that you look like raging bull ;)

Talking points and opinion hosts have become the new science.

I’ll gladly state anyone vaxxing a perfectly healthy child is stupid. No other way to say it.
