Russia has rotated a million troops into and out of Ukraine. Less experienced troops get easier assignments like defending territory instead of engaging in offensive operations.

What you have written is likely true, clearly obvious, and not particularly relevant to the question of why Russia, on the cusp of dramatic strategic victory, suddenly needs 137,000 more soldiers to fight a minor sideshow “special military operation” (i.e. not “war” or “invasion”).

Russia is rotating forces in and out of Ukraine, and Russia is putting green and/or understrength formation in defensive or garrison duties. Well, duh. One does not need to be a military genius to figure that out. One could even be a guy who never saw combat in his life, and never served one day in the military, but liked to talk tough because he has read a lot of books about what other actual warriors have done (you know, someone like Putin). Of course, troops cannot maintain readiness indefinitely while at the front, and of course the defense is the stronger (easier) position in war.

It still does not explain why Russia needs 137,000 more conscripts (if we we are being honest about who these rifles are going to be) in Ukraine when they have already killed 200,000 (your claim) Ukrainian troops with contemptuous ease.

You know what does explain it? This:

    You are losing.

And Putin knows that you are losing.

You just have not been informed of it or put it together for yourself yet.

    1. Ukraine has admitted they were going to invade the Donbass.

    2. That Zelensky indicated Ukraine should acquire nukes is a matter of public record.

    3. Ukraine went from firing ~60 shells into the Donbas to 2500+ in just a few days. Why do you think they did that?

Biden wanted war to help Democrats in the midterms. People like myself and strategic analyst Gregory Copley were saying that last year. And when a Beijing-drafted ceasefire agreement was likely to be signed by Putin and Zelensky, Biden, with help from Boris John, queered the deal.

Biden is prepared to fight to the last Ukrainian. Zelensky will fight to the last US dollar.

Well at least we know you got you english training in British English. Or you are British, which would make your presence here even that much more odd.

I've thought of asking random Gator trivia, but not worth the time. I think we all know it's a paid troll.

Donetsk and Luhansk declared their independence in 2014. Why? A pro-Russian democratically elected Ukrainian president had been illegally replaced in a coup instigated by the US with heavy neo-Nazi involvement. The new illegally elected president talked about oppressing the majority Russian-speakers in the Donbas (Donetsk + Luhansk). Limit and perhaps eventually ban the Russian language. Reduce the number of Russian language TV shows for starters. The Ukronazi component of the military and government considered the Russian-speakers "untermenchen," non-Aryan and subhuman/inferior.

So Donetsk and Luhansk declared their independence while the US armed and trained the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Nazi-infested Azov battalion.

Remember when the province of Kosovo stated they wanted independence from Russia's little brother Serbia? Christian Serbia objected and Bill Clinton/NATO bombed Belgrade for 78 days. Kosovo and it's Albanian Muslims couldn't have survived economically without narco-trafficking. Meaning they couldn't be a legitimate state.

Putin simply played by the rules established by the US/NATO in Serbia. Donetsk and Luhansk declared their independence in 2014 and Ukraine shelled them for 8 years. Russia had as much right to protect the Donbas Russian-speakers as the US had to protect Islamist/Al Qaeda-connected narco and human-trafficking Kosovo.

And for the record, Russia annexed Crimea in exactly the same way as the US annexed Texas. Another example of Putin playing by OUR RULES.

Nice. I added your two to my list. Naval warfare is fascinating to me.

If you like the first person infantry perspective, With the Old Breed is another must, IMO.

That's the first time anyone's told me that. Relative to my political/math/science IQ I consider myself verbally challenged, although a kid in elementary school told me I talked like a book. Born in the south but my parents were from Ohio/Indiana. Graduated from UF. I wrote an analysis on why the 2006 Gators should be in the national championship game. Sports info dept (or whatever it's called) picked up on it and sent it to everyone on a Thursday who was deciding who would face the Buckeyes. On Sunday morning Lou Holtz was using my arguments on ESPN..

As a midshipman at UF, I spent enough time on subs and ships that I knew — yo, ho, yo, ho — it was not a pirate’s life for me. In the Marines I had a couple of deployments at sea on MEUs, which confirmed my suspicions. When it came time to leave active-duty Marine Corps in 2017 to keep my family in California, the one service I did not consider switching to was the Navy. God bless those guys who can do that sea duty.

    Fascinating stuff. Thanks.

I can never forget the depiction of how it felt to be on a ship that was getting shelled by naval riflery in Neptune’s Inferno by James HornFisher. That was terrifying to think about.

My late father-in-law was a radio man and talked about picking up your fellow Marines after the war that had been on Guadalcanal. He never forgot their deportment, what it was plain they had been through. And they were just stuffed down in the hold for the ride back. Amazing stuff. Different time

    1. Ukraine cannot invade Donbas anymore than I can steal my own car from a thief who stole it from me. Russia’s claims on it and Crimea are about as compelling as France claiming Louisiana today because people who speak French live there. Donbas and Crimea are internationally recognized as part of Ukraine. This is only going to end with them being back under Ukrainian control. Since you’ve insisted, the Ukrainians will gladly help those Russian speakers find Russia again. Just give it time.

    2. You mean to tell me that the President of a country who had lands stolen from it by a bully state with nuclear weapons expressed that it might be in his country’s interest to also have nuclear weapons as a deterrent from further aggression and land theft? The hell you say. Saying you want something and getting it are two different things by the way. My guess is Ukraine would prefer the international assistance to the nukes. They can’t have both.

    3. Why did Ukraine increase its shelling of filthy, stinking Russians in occupied parts of Ukraine? My guess is to kill, wound, or suppress filthy, stinking Russians on the wrong side of the border and help them find their side. The same reason any country has attacked an invading army going back to the Stone Age.

    4. I hope your Putin is scared and in great pain when he dies. If his cancer or a bullet in the back of the head takes him, I will be very disappointed.

    5. You are embarrassing yourself with your Texas metaphors. Russia makes a naked land grab in the 21st Century, and you want to compare it to common practices from nearly 200 years ago? Putin is also actively enslaving the Ukrainian people on the wrong side of the front, the women in particular (and I strongly suspect you know this for a certainty). Is the fact that slavery was a common practice in much of the world, including the U.S., during the first half of the 19th Century justification for turning Ukrainian women into sex slaves for Russian soldiers? Please tell us all that it is. Or deny the Russian practice. Or say “nanny nanny boo boo, you can’t prove the slavery charges.”

Really? I could walk you through every hole on the Gator golf course.
Hole 1. There's a sand trap in front of the straight away par 4. The sand trap was put there because Andy Bean was driving the green.
    Hole 2. Wedge shot.
Hole 3. Straight away par 5 parallel to 17th fairway.
Hole 4. Straight away par 5 changed to par 4.
Hole 5. Short but very narrow par 4 with a very hard to hit green
.Hole 6. Very short par 3.
    Etc.
Is g8orbill still involved with Firehouse Subs?
Does cjgator76 still have a law office on University Blvd in Winter Park?
Hallgator told me he had COPD when I started attending UF. I did medical research for him.
DocZaius told me he was banned at gatorcountry.
Maybe instead of being a "paid troll" I've been here before while attending UF. I'd love to hear why oragator thinks I speak British english. Whatever he says will be laughable to me.
BTW, whatever happened to Mastag8r (probably butchering his username)? I used to proof read some of his posts. Marta IMPLIED that he had received a bad medical diagnosis. I think he was out of Miami. He had a way with words and loved to interact with a poster named rivergator.
Still think I'm a paid Russian troll?
I remember when todesrolle was a the most impressive conservative poster.
I remember when oragator was very careful and measured and super-smart. What happened ora? Lol I know or a is still the smartest Dem-leaner here. But he can't beat me bc I stick to the facts
