I think it’s Beyond this Horizon which was his 2nd book written under a different name. I think it was originally serialized but it is a common theme it his books.

The moon is a harsh mistress may have had legalized dreaming. It was chock full of his libertarian thoughts. I wish my memory was better.

I like this. Although in curious why you think it should be limited to personal matters only, and not business as well?

And to officially make this a Too Hot thread, the two people thay gave the OP "Come on Man" are both right leaning posters. I feel like two consenting adults would epitomize freedom. I'm surprised they didn't agree.

I think if dueling were brought back 90% of duels would be fought over video game related arguments.

Not universally. I've been practicing for over 15 years as part of my Aikido training.

Is that the thing with the tiny swords with little flags on it that looks like dancing? Yeah, that doesnt count.

I think if you allowed duels over business or professional manners it would erode good order and discipline in the workplace. Let’s say you committed a legitimate infraction at your place of work, and your boss admonishes you wholly within the rules. Well, you just challenge that boss to a duel, and if they decline, you call them out as a coward in front of everyone. Same thing if you have a small business and a rival business is able to “steal” a client through a legitimately better offer.

How can the cream rise to the top in capitalism if you aren't allowed to challenge the guy who lied and took all the credit for the big presentation to a duel? We just going to let liars weasel their way into a promotion? Ones that cant even wield a broadsword?

I vehemently disagree with you. I think that most duels would be between spouses and would be fought over things like who is taking the dog for a walk.

It wasn't really clarified that women would be allowed to duel, that's a real game changer. I assumed it was a bro thing.

I'm gonna open Duels R Us. Or maybe, Duels for Fools. Haven't figured that part out yet. I'm picturing a concrete rectangular "arena", except no windows or surveillance. Two step in. One steps out.

One time fee or subscription model if you're really into it.

Capital raise is minimal as is operating costs. Small advertising budget and you're off to the races!

    Cha-ching!

Oh, well I was on the fence on this but if there is foxy dueling, I think I'm a yes, I dont think you should be able to challenge your spouse or SO to a duel, that seems like a way of avoiding a divorce or break up. No loopholes!

I needed a thread such as this. Not enough comedy on too hot anymore. People think they are funny with the meme's and trying to own each other but this thread shows how it's done. Even if serious at first it has evolved into comedy gold.

Do it as a lasertag thing for firearms, or as a fencing thing if you prefer swords and you may be on to something here.

Yeah. That may work. I've already contacted a couple of banks. Mostly just need to understand the regs around this so I can build to those.

Methinks you are going to need a business partner. I’ll be retired here within three years with absolutely nothing better to do. We could call it Score Settling Store. It has nice alliteration as well as a cute rhyme.

If you two chumps think you're profiting off my brainstorm, well, we'll be dueling.
