A couple of things come to mind. One, I was amazed most of last season that Mullen had then recently said Todd Grantham was one of, or the, best DCs in college football. Going out on a limb like that for a then to date mediocre DC only makes one look bad when it falls apart. The other thing, we have to be measured in our expectations because perhaps the offense is a work in progress.

I agree to an extent (the O might be raw but may not be all that "bad"), but the D must absolutely show up early and play sound football pretty much from the start - to have any chance for the strong start we all hope for. I honestly think that we will do enough on O to win early - as long as the D doesn't write a check the O can't cash. I guess I'm looking for a more complete FB team I suppose - what a concept. Now throw in some strong ST play...

Interesting comment Die - last couple of seasons people were saying it takes longer for the defense to develop because they’re having to react to the offense. In hindsight this was a desperate attempt to rationalize how miserable TG’s defenses were, but which is in fact true?

According to Zach Goodall the Gators are the present leader for Louisiana OT Caden Jones. The 6-8 300 Jones is ranked as the #24 OT for the 2023 class.

He’s got 3 first string, 4 second string, and 3 third string. I wish we had a little more backup beef but like the potential. Hopefully Thomas has his head on straight now

Defenses are usually ahead of the offenses since it’s read and react and execution doesn’t necessarily have to be perfect. Having said that, the covid year was an outlier.

Not surprising Brenton Cox its the starting edge rusher, Antwaun Powell-Ryland will be the back up. The third stringer would be a combination of Lloyd Summerall, Chief Borders and Jack Pyburn.

We all know how important a offense line its to a football team. The Gators starting offense line will consist of LOT Richard Gouraige, LOG Ethan White (if back from injury) C Kingsley Eguakun, ROG O'cyru Torrence and ROT Michael Tarquin. the second stringers are LOT Austin Barber, LOG Richie Leonard, center Jake Slaughter, ROG Josh Braum and RT Kamryn Waites. Jordan Herman could be in the mix.
