Without hyperbole, this is the most disgusting bill introduced in my lifetime. Unamerican and grotesque. I have to step back and gather my words after the shock of seeing this from a congressperson. Highlight
She's taking cues from DeSantis and introducing legislation as a mere matter of pandering. So unoriginal
Politicians telling doctors how to practice medicine? Who would have thought? Somewhat off-topic but related. It was a bound to happen sooner or later, parents of girls who lost an athletic event alleged that the competitor who beat them is transgender. The reality is that the girl who won was a genetic girl who just happened to be a superior athlete and they couldn't accept the result. After a girl beat their daughters in sports, Utah parents triggered investigation into whether she was transgender Maybe the first time but it certainly won't be the last.
MTG is definitely just pandering. Given her track record and penchant for working against rather than with people I’ll be surprised if she ever gets any meaningful legislation enacted in her career
I bet there are one or more on this very site who agree with it, but who will probably be too ashamed to admit it.
Sadly, I don’t think that’s why she’s there. Rant, rave, tweet stupid and provocative tweets, give speeches to unAmerican groups, and cosplay for the adoring fans while she asks for money is about all she aims to do.
And MTG extends her lead in the race for the most divisive and radical legislator to ever be elected to Congress.
That’s a bunch of the current repubs. It’s leading to some degree of chaos in their ranks as the Dems get legislative successes. There are some divisive Dems to be sure, but that’s based more on ideology. They can come together and compromise. Folks like Greene, Gaetz, Boebert, et al. have no real ideology and just want to meme & sound byte & piss people off. They’re poison to the GOP long term
There was once a time when republicans had at least some standards. Today every single House Republican voted against reporting white supremacists in the military. Republicans for sure know who their fans are.
Bans insur. coverage for adult trans healthcare! Sounds great. Why should other people have to pay for purely elective items like that? And why should teenagers, who aren't able to make adult decisions like entering into binding contracts be allowed to enter a life altering treatments that are entirely elective? Should health insurance also cover fake boobs? Third testicle additions? Maybe tattoos? Obviously undoing already created he|shes is going too far, they've already screwed themselves up no reason to do even more harm, and everything should be allowed to be taught, but otherwise sounds good.
This part of the dialogue was particularly compelling: NDG: What is your motivation? BS: Why does that matter? NDG: It matters because if you have political power, you could end up creating legislation that subtracts freedoms from people who previously were enjoying the same freedoms as you.
I fully support insurance coverage for you to get a pair of fake boobs, a third testicle and tattoos on all 3 of them. As for the teens who can’t enter into contracts, but can commit suicide, I have no problem with them getting hormone therapy that is covered by insurance if it will keep them from killing themselves.
Yes. The entire dialogue is something to behold. It strikes me as rich with intellectual curiosity with no ad hominem attacks. NDG’s pontification that perhaps sports competition should be based upon hormonal levels is really a smart observation and idea.
It won't. People who mutilate themselves this way and then take radical drugs to force their body to do things it isn't meant to have one of the highest suicide rates. Not surprising since only heavy mental illnesses could cause this type of thing. Following them down their delusional path until they've become something unidentifiable doesn't seem a smart path. Do we encourage other mental illness patients to go as far as they can into their illness and then make it even more consequential through drugs? It's good to know you support paying for other people to have elective procedures and tattoos. The great news for you and your pals is that nothing is stopping you from doing this now. How many dick snippings and lifetime hormone supplies have you funded for local teenagers? Must be a significant expense for you if you're willing to volunteer other's money. Even better news, nothing stops you guys from starting and funding a charity to cover it for everyone. You don't need the government to step in for this, you can take the initiative. Since you seem to be so sure of your moral and ethical high ground here, as well as sure of public support, this should be easy to do. Or would you rather virtue signal and let others pay for your own personal beliefs rather than giving yourself? Might cut into your budget for buying technology produced by slave labor with materials mined in ways that turn areas into toxic waste dumps then assembled in factories that release untold amounts of pollution. Would make it tough to use these items to post about how everyone else needs to sacrifice for climate change and your other virtue signaling causes I guess. So carry on.
