I’m glad to see Christians finally standing up against Christian nationalism. Unfortunately I think it’s too little too late to do anything to reverse the decline in church attendance, or being viewed as just another wing of a political party.

“Is this what you're all about? Election deniers, COVID hoaxers, all politics all the time,” tweeted Winston-Salem, North Carolina Pastor Ben Marsh from First Alliance Church. “I'm saddened. We have a shortage of pastors as it is, and now we're training them to care more for politics than Christ.”

Republicans and Christian leaders bashed for irony of speaking at Florida confab that warns of 'idolatry'

Another fake Christian Nationalist thread. Mohler is not a “Christian Nationalist”.

This is how you make up a false narrative and try to attach it to people. The real evil and wrong is what the OP is attempting to do.

This is the same nonsense as the bringing back up stories from a year and a half ago about DeSantis that were baseless with no factual evidence.

Sad but or for the course here…

I read the article and didn’t come to the same conclusion as the thread title.

Al Mohler, the president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, called Christian nationalism “idolatrous” and pushed back on the idea that evangelical Christianity was linked to what had happened at the Capitol.

“Nationalism is always a clear and present danger,” he wrote a week after the insurrection. But linking it to “American evangelical Christianity,” he said, was an unfair “accusation.”

By this summer, Mohler had updated his thinking.

Speaking on his podcast on June 15, the theologian said: “We have the left routinely speaking of me and of others as Christian nationalists, as if we’re supposed to be running from that.” He added: “I’m not about to run from that.”

He is stating that he is not going to run from the ridiculous argument that he wants America to have a state religion in Christianity.

Some of you need to stop making crap up and changing the context of what the a person means to something else in order fit a narrative you want to believe.

    This exactly!

Mohler and his fruits speak to the fact he is not a Christian Nationalist. But we do have others whose fruit shows intent to deceive.

I read the statement, and this explanation of it seems like "making up crap" to me. Also, if you arent going to run from the idea America should have a state religion, what should you be called?

In all seriousness, Christianity itself always loses its true power when it seeks expression through secular state power. The arc of the Papacy has demonstrated that

He is going to ignore it because the assertion is nonsense and baseless. There is no reason to address a false narrative like this.

here’s the podcast. Can you point me to where in this he makes the statement and the correct interpretation? It’s long, so I assumed you already know where it is in the podcast. Thanks in advance.

I'm of the firm view that if one supports Trump, one is a CINO. I must confess, however, that my view, after decades of study, is based upon my understanding of Christ's message to mankind. I may misunderstand it. I don't misunderstand Trump, though.

    From his podcast he states:

“Even conservatives who once would have identified themselves clearly as nationalists they’re now running scared from the term. And we have the Left routinely speaking of me and of others as Christian Nationalists, as if we’re supposed to be running from that. And you know, I’m not about to run from that. I’m not about to join their One World Order, which frankly has absolutely no roots for the human rights they claim to be preserving.”

Christians are speaking out against Christian Nationalism, and Christian nationalism is a violation of the 1st Amendment by the way, and that upsets you?
