You do realize all Abbott would have to do is issue an order that all law enforcement officers on the bus be unarmed right? Maybe allow them to have mace and stun guns. You could actually make the argument the officers would be there for their safety as well. To prevent fights and violence from potentially happening. They would be there in a safety and compliance capacity, not in a law enforcement capacity.

I think we have the right to secure our borders and know who's coming into the country. That's a different issue than your general concern that "White culture" is being pushed out of America. I'm not even sure what "White culture" means. Do you mean Anglo only? Anglo-Saxon? How about Russian culture? Spanish culture? Hungarian culture? They're all racially "White" but have different languages, traditions, and cultures.

America is a very diverse and young country. I don't think it makes sense to compare us to old ethno-states, and I have no interest in living in a country that puts a premium on race or ethnicity. Of course, our nation has had these sorts of concerns before. Italian Americans and the Irish were often viewed as lesser and people to be worried about. As another example, in the 1920's, Louisiana banned teaching French in public schools because they didn't want Cajun kids speaking French. Even now in a very conservative state, being Cajun is no longer viewed as a pejorative, and they're trying to make sure to preserve that culture.

I don't know what percentage of the Hispanic population in Miami, for example, are illegals. Many are Cuban-Americans whose parents or grandparents came here lawfully. There are Puerto Ricans, who are American citizens. Many from places like Venezuela have visas and are well-educated; I've had more than one Uber driver who had a professional degree. One was an engineer when in Venezuela and was working hard to learn English and trying to get his credentials in order here. Look at a place like Weston, Florida which has one of the highest percentage of Venezuelans in the country while also having a very high medium income. How would we compare the standard of living and quality of life there with less diverse places in Arkansas or West Virginia, for example?

I do think Americans should want to learn English, and if my memory serves, most immigrants speak English in the home by the second or third generation. I personally enjoy hearing and learning about other languages and cultures. Moreover, I think America has advantages in economics, entertainment, national security, and business to have people with linguistic and cultural familiarity with so many other places.

Your proposal was to use more government employees to oversee a possibly failing government program. And you're trying to tell us you don't want more government control? I mean, really? Really?

An appropriate response and I appreciate it. My apologies to everyone if I got out of hand earlier. Some of these things are topics I've very passionate about.

To give an appropriate response to you mrhansduck I would say the general white culture in America. I understand that there are many different white cultures. Language is a big part of that culture and by not even trying to learn English that is a disrespect to the culture. I would also say things like the holidays we celebrate, how we celebrate them, the foods we eat, our value systems, our architecture, even the sports we like, that is the white culture in America.

I don't mean this completely seriously but let me ask you this. We are about to begin football season. In a majority Hispanic country does pro or college football even exist? I doubt it does. Does baseball even exist? I doubt it does. Both football and baseball would be replaced by soccer as the dominant sport in America.

In terms of language we are nice enough to not have an official language. Would a majority Hispanic America or any majority Hispanic country ever not establish their language (whether Spanish or Portuguese) as the official language? If they could I believe Hispanics in this country would establish Spanish as the official language of America, forcing English speakers to learn Spanish in what was previously their own country.

What about Southern or New England architecture? Do they even appreciate architecture that is typically built by whites, whether it's homes or buildings? Or do they only appreciate Spanish oriented architecture like what you typically see in the Southwest?

In terms of holidays will they celebrate holidays whites have celebrated or insist on celebrating their own holidays?

I'll admit I'm bitter. I worked for a hospitality company for a long time as a head manager (manager of the managers) and our hourly work force was mostly Puerto Ricans, Cubans, Venezuelans and Haitians. In my time there they wouldn't do anything they weren't required to do. We had a company portal to check for things like paychecks and benefits and they wanted us to do it all for them. I had associates who had been in the U.S. for over 10 years but couldn't speak a word of English outside of "I don't speak English, I require your assistance." If you've lived here more than 10 years and don't speak any English at all that's an insult IMO. The Puerto Ricans and Haitians in particular were very resistant to trying to learn English. They also believed their culture was better than ours. I guess when you're constantly told another culture is better than yours over the years it makes you a little bitter. They would hurt this country by having no interest in learning about it, never traveling to other parts to the country (always using vacation time to travel back home) and sending any money they could back home, taking it out of the U.S. economy. They were here for the economic advantages but many of them never even wanted to try to assimilate into the U.S. culture. I guess that really turned me off. And all of this was before Trump ever took office.

You say you enjoy hearing about other languages and cultures. I can agree with you on that. But let me ask you this (and I don't mean this in a bad way), when was the last time someone from another culture originally (Hispanic culture or not) asked you about your language? Asked you about your culture? The associates I managed, none of them ever asked me about English. None of them ever asked me about my culture, my family traditions, how I grew up. So once again why is it only our responsibility to reach out? Why is it not their responsibility as well?

Another double standard, the living situation. Many Hispanics will only live in Hispanic areas and that's okay (and I agree with that). But if whites do the same thing it's considered isolating at best if not being downright racist at worse.

I decided to split the post up as it was getting long. I will say you mention West Virginia and Arkansas and I get it, two states easy to pick on for being poor. Ironically I partially grew up in West Virginia and even though I only spent 8 years growing up there I could argue West Virginia still feels more like home to me than Florida ever did. Maybe I truly am only comfortable around whites and don't truly know that or accept it. But while West Virginians may be poor, we are a proud people. We are unassuming and unpretentious and the people generally work hard. They don't have much but they value what they do have unlike many other areas of the country. I will always be proud to be from West Virginia and would love to move back some day.

I agree that it's probably not fair to judge America against much older ethno-states. It just makes me feel like I don't really have a country. Like I don't have anything to hold on to. You said you wouldn't want to live in a country that place a premium on race or ethnicity. I can understand that but I think I feel differently. I believe I would like living in a country that puts a premium on race or ethnicity. Where there is a homogenous aspect that everyone shares and brings everyone a sense of pride.

As I think about it more and more, maybe I'm just not compatible with America, what it represents and where its going. Even as a kid I always loved Japan and I could definitely see myself fitting in there. I believe I put that in another post as well. Sadly being white I would never 100% be accepted in Japan so I know it's not a legitimate option. But maybe God made a mistake and maybe I truly do believe more in an old ethno-state. I don't know if I could take the weather but Hungary and Poland have my interests. Maybe you're right and maybe the problem is actually me.

I really don't hate Hispanics despite what you may think but it's very hard for me to break the thinking that they are slowly but surely going to remake America into their image. Remake America into a country that I don't even recognize. And I don't want their rise in power to coincide with a decline in the America I grew up with, the America I used to love and enjoy. Do you think I'm greatly overreacting to that? Do you think I'm wrong about most/all of this?

I can speak for Portugal and say, yes, they absolutely will speak English to you. It is very heavily spoken in areas with any tourist exposure and they are pretty nice about it there.

I’m curious what would be the legal justification for Texas LE personnel using force outside the state of Texas?

Yeah, there are no Hispanics interested in baseball. You have a really good handle on this.

I understand many Hispanics play baseball but do they understand the culture of baseball in America?

At the end of the day baseball was created in America and by white culture. Would a majority Hispanic America or any Hispanic country have created the game of baseball?

"The culture of baseball in America." You are worried that they aren't displaying enough bored indifference? Or won't tell you all about the greatness of Honus Wagner and guys with handlebar mustaches?

Turnabout is karma. Texas isn't telling these people where they are being taken so them getting off wherever is fair.

In how many "White" (non Hispanic) countries do they have American-style football? I have always thought we are fairly unique in that regard. With respect to baseball, it's the national sport of Cuba and the Dominican Republic, and there are obviously lots of Hispanic players in MLB. Soccer is king in South America and many other parts of the world for that matter.

I can speak for Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point), Mexico that the locals there speak as much English as they do Spanish. That's because they cater to their economy, which is being a beach town for a lot of Arizona residents. RP is a 3 hour trip with no border hassle from both Tucson and Phoenix. Their economy is based on English speakers crossing the border to take advantage of their beautiful coast line, and generally warm and calm waters.

By the way, there are undocumented immigrants in all 50 states. And the high concentration isn't just limited to border states. Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New York, and Washington State all have, by percentage, a high number of undocumented immigrants. Likely because there is a combination of large cities, plus lots of rural farm work in these states. And undocumented immigrants will settle where they can find work and build a life.

We also shouldn't worry about culture either. Living in a diverse country to me, is a positive. I had dinner at a high end, modern Mexican-fusion restaurant in Scottsdale last night and enjoyed speaking Spanish to my waitress. She was impress I knew how to pronounce Oaxacan, and asked me if I spoke Spanish. She was young, cute, and likely either an ASU student or recent grad, waitressing at a packed restaurant where average plate is around $50 - $100.

Speaking of going to college, between 2000 and 2018, the number of Hispanics enrolled in college exploded. And not just undergrad, but post-grad as well. It's why Hispanics are some of the most upwardly mobile people in this country. The 0 generation may not have higher than a high school education, but their kids are going to college, getting advanced degrees, opening up businesses, etc. They are bi-lingual as well, even if their parents or grandparents are Spanish speaking only.

Last, baseball is big in Mexico. They have had their own league for almost a century, with 18 teams, and a 100+ game schedule. Not as big as soccer, but then soccer is growing here as a sport. And it's not just Hispanics or foreign born players either. Christian Pulisic is from Pennsylvania.

Baseball was created in England, it was a girls game called rounders. So was soccer for that matter, and lots of Hispanic people love that game. Even football has its origins in Rugby. The only 'real' American sport is basketball.
