Lurk— Enjoy your evening with your wife and friends. We rented a property of ours one time. That did it for us. Your descriptions of what you found this time are spot on with the shape our place including your “before” and “after” scenarios. Good luck with your decisions and work on the place.
Tonight I’ll be grilling bone-in country cut ribs indirect over cherry wood smoke seasoned with coarse black pepper and Everglades seasoning. Baked potatoes will be on the top rack. We will have a pot of fresh pink eye peas with snaps and pod okra. The back porch Yeti is restocked and Ms. Jan’s wine is chilled. Life is good in Gator Nation!
Rib eyes on the KJ along with a salad and braised red cabbage. The rib eyes look marvelous so I opened a nice Russian River pinot noir.
Tonight we’re going to be working on our leftovers from the weekend. The main dish will be a bowl of chicken’n’dumplings with a couple of different types of vegetables. Mostly sunshine today with just one early morning shower. The back porch is open and ready for your leisure. Choice of adult libations are available. Life is good in Gator Nation!
Tonight we’re going with another lighter summer time supper. We’ll be putting together a freshly made Cobb salad topped with boneless skinless chicken breasts cut into bite size pieces and fried. Pretty hot (94*) and humid here today. The back porch is open and ready for your enjoyment. The refreshments are ready as always. Life is good in Gator Nation!
Tonight we’re going to have a boneless chuck roast turned into a pot of beef stew including potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, and gravy. Our sides will be fresh bi-color cob corn and fried cornbread. The back porch Yeti is restocked and Ms. Jan’s wine is chilled. Life is good in Gator Nation!
Sounds more like a meal for a chilly fall evening instead of a dead of summer meal, but OK. Getting Thai take-out tonight.
Boiled a whole chicken with onion and thyme to shred for enchiladas. Put the bones and skin back in to make a chicken stock. So much better than the boxes of chicken broth.
We’ll be using tonight as an opportunity to once again work on our leftovers cleaning the refrigerator out. Typical panhandle weather day here today—heat, humidity, thunderstorm, rinse, repeat….. The back porch is open and ready for your leisure. Adult libations are available for your pleasure. Life is good in Gator Nation!
Tonight I’ll be grilling bone-in country cut ribs indirect over cherry wood smoke seasoned with coarse black pepper and Everglades seasoning. Yes, Pat’s Homade on the last two turns. Baked potatoes will be on the top rack. Inside we will have freshly steamed green cabbage and bi-color cob corn. Another typical panhandle weather day here today—hot, humid, and afternoon thunderstorms. The back porch is open and ready for your relaxation-the longnecks are ice cold and Ms. Jan’s wine is chilled. Life is good in Gator Nation!
Tonight I’ll be grilling wings seasoned with coarse black pepper and Everglades Cactus Dust seasoning. Inside we’ve got a freshly made Romaine salad topped with vine ripe tomatoes. Pretty much just heat and humidity today—no rain here today. The longnecks are ice cold and Ms. Jan’s wine is chilled. Life is good in Gator Nation!
If it were up to me we'd at least have a "GO GATORS!" one! Nobody ever asks for my opinion though......it is what it is.....
Lurk - I'm air-layering some of my specimen Crotons right now. Normally would take cuttings but unless you have a decent mist system they defoliate too much and success rate is unacceptable. I've said this before but Crotons are actually like a small tree in form. So with any of size you have a decent sized trunk/branch/stem to air layer with. Also I'm using a rooting hormone for the first time when air layering, so will be interesting to see the results.
I have a lots of eperience airlayering camellias. Root Tone helps more for antibiotic than anything else. And most reticulata camellias cannot be air layered. Actually most of the mutant varieties can not be grown on their own roots and need to be grafted. For some reason grafting camellias in pots has been a disaster but grafting in ground seems to work. Years ago grafting in pots workd 90% of the time. I have been in contact with people that are on this and they have no idea
Tonight I’ll be putting my meatloaf recipe together for supper. Our sides will be fresh yellow squash and onions stewed down and a pot of white rice topped with Rotel tomatoes. Another beautiful day is here accompanied by the normal heat-humidity-thundershower type waves. The longnecks are ice cold, Ms. Jan’s wine is chilled, and the back porch is open.
