Lots of good baseball schools here like Stoneman Douglas, Naples, IMG, Calvary Christian. If those teams have great years like normal I would think their individual ratings might go up.
Reilly took a big step forward this summer and might be figuring it all out. He has the body to dominate and may just have a slider now to go along with his fastball.
6’4”, 220 and still a JR (now SR I guess). They didn’t grow them that big 20 years ago. Andrew Brown out of Deltona (‘99ish draft class) was the biggest kid I faced. He was probably close to that. Looked monstrous on the mound.
Lol. Yes he’s a big kid and definitely has the pitcher body. Kinda curious where the MLB draft projections put him. He was up to 95 this summer and seems to be getting stronger and figuring it out.
Sarasota is hosting the 18U Baseball World Cup this week. UF commits Stone Russell and Christian Rodriguez are both playing with the USA National team, which is 4-0 and is playing their final opening round game tonight against Brazil. They are assured of advancing to play three games in the Super Round, which starts Thursday with the medal round games being played on Sunday. Some really high level baseball for anyone living in the Sarasota and overall Tampa Bay area.
I'm surprised I haven't heard of him. I'm wondering if he is one of the arms that came thru TCHS or might have worked with Tommy Bond.
A little more on Hunter Jones. As a sophomore, he was the starting pitcher in North Marion's state championship game that they lost in 2021. 5 questions with North Marion High School Colts pitcher Hunter Jones Hunter Jones Class of 2023 - Player Profile | Perfect Game USA North Marion falls short in state championship - Ocala Gazette
He is part of the Power program. Top velo has been like 92 but seems to be very projectible. Good kid as well!
Power baseball has kind of emerged as the best in Cent Fl.....the guts that run it are top notch. This may be the first UF kid from there, they have been feeding FSU and UM a little. Hubbart and Montgomery from FSU are both Power guys
Montgomery hasn’t fully lived up to the hype so far but I think that was just the depth of their rotation. I expect a big year from him this year.
Agree...I was at his last high school start before covid and it seemed like he was headed to mlb. Scouts were there and drooling. His older brother was a stud CF and kind of didn't pan out either. Injury at usf, doesn't play, so so finish to career at Rollins
Only 9.1 percent of college baseball players make it to a baseball minor league roster. Only 10 percent of those that make it to Triple AAA minor league teams ever make it to the Major Leagues. Incredibly competitive to make an MLB roster, to stay on a MLB roster, or to even make it to Triple AAA ball.
