Tried and failed again to get the New York Slimes article, but this is the next best thing: Report: Biden Told Inner Circle He Wants Garland to Prosecute Trump, Stop Acting Like a 'Ponderous Judge' (westernjournal.com) It's a report on the New York Slime report: 1. Currently presiding over the most authoritarian administration in American history, President Joe Biden told close confidants that former President Donald Trump is a threat to democracy and wants Attorney General Merrick Garland’s DOJ to prosecute him, according to two sources who spoke to The New York Times. 2. The President has not asked the attorney general to pursue an indictment against Trump but is said to be privately frustrated over his inaction. Biden would like “Mr. Garland to act less like a ponderous judge and more like a prosecutor who is willing to take decisive action over the events of Jan. 6,” The Times reported. 3. Aware that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s sham Jan. 6 Committee will be the first casualty of an expected Republican-led Congress, Democrats know that time is of the essence. Still more: Biden wants AG Garland to be more 'decisive' in Jan. 6 probe: Report (msn.com) 1. President Joe Biden is privately concerned that Attorney General Merrick Garland is not moving 'decisively' enough in the Justice Department's ongoing investigation into last year's attack on the US Capitol, a new report suggested on Saturday. 2. Biden reportedly complained about the fact that Donald Trump in particular has not been prosecuted, people close to the president told the New York Times. 3. Republican predecessor as a 'threat to democracy' in comments made as recently as late last year. 4. Biden had 'said privately that he wanted Mr. Garland to act less like a ponderous judge and more like a prosecutor who is willing to take decisive action over the events of Jan. 6,' the report stated.
Cooperation is the other facet. We don't know Trump's intent. But we know Trump didn't cooperate. Again, he originally slow walked the National Archives on their first request. Then, once Trump did finally give up some documents, it wasn't everything the Archives asked for. Trump also lied on an affidavit stating the January, 2022 boxes contained all classified material. Trump also ignored a subpoena requesting he return all classified documents, which we know he did have, per the warrant and list if items the FBI secured. Agreed, we don't know intent. But when when lacks cooperation, and is holding on to TS/SCI documents that could jeopardize our national security, eventually time runs out, and you have to act. Garland waited as long as he thought, contemplating asking for the warrant for weeks, but as the November general election became closer to 90 days out, time was up. Can anyone truly tell me why it's ok to have TS/SCI documents secured in a pool closet at a private residence that also serves as a public club? Had anyone else who wasn't a former POTUS had these documents, and the FBI knew about it, they wouldn't be so kind to us in their attempts to regain these documents.
The affidavit is very material. It contains the info to get the warrant; including witnesses. And the government says that releasing it would jeapardize the investigation.
Agreed. My question is how is it material to trump's legal exposure given that the conducted search has found what it was looking for. Does it matter whether Ivana or Jared was the mole? Obviously, the grounds for the search warrant can be challenged after an indictment by the defense. But to us lookie-loos, the details in the affidavit doesn't change what was actually found.
He must think that Meadows in one of the witnesses and he is going to go after Meadows while Meadows May have to remain silent because he is cooperating. It Meadows doesn’t respond, that would make this scenario very likely. And Meadows may be a witness even if he responds.
Yes, that puts Biden at the top of the food chain instead of Garland. It doesn't change what Biden wants as leaked to the New York Slime.
Yes. It does. And it matters what was said and what is being investigated. It may be more than just removal and possession.
In my opinion, the constant juvenile name-calling kills any credibility to an argument. As soon as I see “New York Slime,” I can’t help but stop giving credibility to the balance of the post. It may be just me, but to be sure, it’s what caused me to slowly lose credibility in your leader. To me,a President of the United States should exercise a modicum of civility, indeed maturity, when using his pulpit. And when his followers use the same devolved banality, they lose credibility with me. Obviously, that’s just my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own.
so why cant a classified document like this be in a room with a phone? Are you thinking this documents have the ability to read themselves out loud or something?
Was poster thinking that DoJ works for anyone other than WH? It says Biden wants action... no claims that it would be "make an indictment". If they had info along those lines it would be the headline.
oh, by phone he means cell phone...i'm thinking an old fashion telephone. cell phones aren't allowed nor are things like fit bits and apple watches and stuff.
More pressure on Merrick Garland from democrats not named Joe Biden. This is two months later in early June as reported by NBC News: Garland looks like he's protecting Trump. But Biden could be the one to benefit. (nbcnews.com) I can tell you 1/6 is and has been done in the DOJ. Soon this document bullshit will be over too. Thanks for making Trump a stronger 2024 presidential candidate if that is what he chooses. Garland did fine until being suckered into signing off on the raid: WASHINGTON — Attorney General Merrick Garland is coming under increasingly intense criticism from progressives who say he is protecting former President Donald Trump. But it's not Trump who stands to be the primary beneficiary of Garland's shield; it's President Joe Biden. The points of tension are myriad, from backing the last administration's immigration and environmental policies to defending Trump in a defamation suit brought by E. Jean Carroll, who says Trump sexually assaulted her and later caused her harm by saying she lied about it. But the line of demarcation is singular: Garland will take all of the heat for Biden's promise that he would bolster the rule of law by keeping a healthy distance — maybe more than a healthy distance — from the Justice Department.
