The only way to have his policies is to run the presidency with the sole goal of enriching Donald Trump.

    So,maybe one of his kids?

Thanks exiled. In retrospect, it seems I may have went a little too subtle with my approach.

Laura might have been right had Trump not been raided by the Feds. But that's all over now.

    Unfortunately.

I see a lot of people acting like voting for someone is only done because the voter likes the person. In reality, a lot of people are just voting against the other candidate. Sometimes when you can't stand either person you go with the one you think might do something right or at least not do something completely evil.

Well then we have 70 million people completely out of touch with reality. And while I haven’t always agreed with republicans I could at least understand where they were coming from. But how you can see trump as the lesser evil means you’re either misinformed at best or at worst totally indoctrinated by propaganda.

I am truly sorry for your blindspot. I do hope it gets cleared up soon.

Unless, you prefer to be blissfully unaware.

In other words, you don’t know either. That’s the thing with dog whistles: emotional triggers with no substance.
EDIT: Here's what it means: "a select group that is superior in terms of ability or qualities to the rest of a group or society." I can see why some are threatened by such people, and why the unscrupulous stoke that fear for political gain. One might think they prefer leaders with lesser ability or qualities.

I was gonna say 80 million but if you want to allege that 10 million of Biden's votes aren't real, well that's your opinion.

Characterizing literally every single person that doesn't vote for your candidate as out of touch with reality is... out of touch with reality.

Agree but I would phrase it a little differently. If Trump had not been "raided" he probably would have announced that he was running for reelection. Now it's a virtual certainty. Reduced to mathematical probabilities, what was a 75% probability is now up to 99%. Similarly, the "raid" on Donald's palace had the effect of magnifying the devotion of members of his cult who now worship their Dear Leader even more fervently than before the FBI searched the premises of the Donald's version of Versailles.

if a person thinks a vote for Donald trump is better for the country than literally anyone else… i mean… I’ve yet to have a discussion with someone post 2020 who had cogent arguments for how exactly the man is good for this country.

There is an argument that his policies are good for the country.

I don't like Donald Trump but if you can turn off MSNBC for 5 seconds you can look at a lot of things that were good that happened during his administration. As a matter of fact, if Trump could just learn to STFU and stay out of idiotic slap fights and off of the damned twitter account he would have increased his odds of being re-elected by at least 10%.

Here's one good thing, no new foreign "conflicts" started during his administration. If you'd prefer that America stay out of stupid foreign conflicts, Trump shockingly was the best president in the last 40 years on that matter. The economy prior to covid was doing very well. All historic indicators pointed to an incumbent re-election.

Now, you can hate Trump all you want, you can (legitimately) think he's an evil orange bad traitorous orange bad rude super mean nasty orange turrible man and also orange that destroyed Our Goddess Supreme Hillary The Clinton, but factors that typically indicate re-election were in his favor.

Again, given his obvious faults as a person, what you’re selling me isn’t enough to justify anything. And you can’t just wave it away- he is who he is and everyone knows it. To your other points, He took over an economy on the upswing. I’m not sure he did anything that any other Republican wouldn’t have done, outside of the tariffs, which have been universally bad for the us economy and contributed to supply side inflation problems.

and regarding foreign conflicts - that’s great. But he also negotiated one of the worst deals ever with the taliban while actively sabotaging relations with nato. And if that’s the low bar we set for presidents even Biden has not gotten us into a new war yet despite numerous international issues right now.

I guess I’ll revise and say in 2020, pubs didn’t have anyone else to vote for so many held their noses and towed the party line. That’s fair. I’ll take back the out of touch comment. But given that they should have other options available, in 2024, I won’t understand it at all if they choose him again, after all that we know about him as a person. And then I’ll bring back my out of touch comment.

Just FYI I'm not commenting about people NOT voting for Biden. Biden is pretty easy not to vote for. He's the most bleh democratic candidate in my lifetime, even more bleh than John Kerry and I can totally understand not wanting to vote for him. But it's hard for me to accept that so many people in the country think that Trump as a president is good for the country. I really hope when he announces that the republican side primaries him - but given the amount of disinformation currently present in our political discourse, I have my doubts.

I know what you mean about Biden being a blah candidate, I felt that way all through the primaries in 2020. At the same time, measuring him by his legislative agenda and victories, with a razor thin margin in the Senate, and world events such NATO and unifying support for Ukraine, ending the Afghan war, he has been remarkably successful.

Do you think that people who believe Trump won the election are out of touch with reality?

This is partly true, but it’s not like republicans are simply “given” a choice to vote for Trump or Hillary/Biden… they are ones who picked him to be “their guy”. If half or more of the country hates him, and half of Republican hate him, how is it that he’s on the verge of being your #1 guy for 12 years? If true, what a broken party…
