You did exactly what I just did when you said "So every Trump voter is a domestic terrorist?" Nobody said that either, but you implied they did. That was the point.

Regarding your last two sentences, not all Trump supporters are racist. But all racists are Trump supporters. (For Tilly, with a few exceptions, of course.)

We are in a thread about Trumpistas stalking and harassing election officials with death threats (bizarrely, in a very pro-Trump county in this case).

This is stuff we’ve been hearing about basically since Nov ‘20. But it didn’t start then as Trump has fomented it all along from the violence in the ‘16 campaign. Same impetus that brought the events of 1/6. Or the recent threats against the FBI. All of it done in the name of Trump, and I don’t believe the violence has hit a crescendo.

    These. Are. Domestic. Terrorists.

    Let's put this into perspective . . . .

With extremely rare exceptions, you do NOT see or hear Dems talking about civil war. Yet, you hear it every day from mainstream Republicans, even some in Congress.

With extremely rare exceptions, you do NOT see or hear Dems violating their oaths of office. Yet, you frequently see it by cowardly mainstream Republicans, including many in Congress, who routinely place party over country and ignore Trump's repeated unAmerican acts. He should have been found guilty in the Senate for both impeachments.

The false equivalency that "both sides have extremists" is clearly misguided and ignores the reality of our situation.

That's pretty much all of then. I think we're (the libs and moderates in this thread) in agreement that Trump and Trump voters represent an existential threat to our democracy.

How many Germans were actual nazis and how many just voted for hitler. Supporting trump at this time is like being a reluctant nazi voter.

That's it. The GOP has devolved into the Do Nothing GQP.

    "Do nothing" on infrastructure . . . .

    "Do nothing" on health care . . . .

    "Do nothing" on climate change . . . .

"Do nothing" on Afghanistan, except release 5,000 Taliban leaders and fighters from prison, undermine the Afghan government, and stick the actual withdrawal on the next guy.

Sometimes the heat of the moment...... Nonetheless, the MAGA "movement" is fundamentally racist. For example, Make America Great Again implies it was not under the previous man of color president. Still, racists are in the democratic party, too. I know one from my state. I won't name him.

I "know" nothing of the sort. Many would argue that the leftist age da is harming our country as well and vote based on that. Period.

I know so many Trump voters who cant stand the guy but vote against a liberal ideology that they fond harmful.

This constant bully move to paint the other side as worst then terrorists or bombers at Pearl Harbor or whatever else people think is just that. A bully move to sway opinion

Its loser talk. (Civil war) no question... But thats just it...Just like you arent hearing many people on the left say they want to leave the country, like they inevitably will if a conservative is elected again. Losers do stupid things.

This cannot be repeated too often. it is a real threat and it was only created because that creep doesn't like to lose.

i know you like to say both sides are the same and one isn’t worse than the other but thinking about leaving and pondering civil war are not equivalent.

Cmon man. Was Obama racist since he offered "hope and change"? Was he saying that a white POTUS left us with no hope?

    Of course not

Make America Great Again, was about as stereotypical generic as it comes for a campaign slogan.

Every foe tells us why things suck under the previous guy. That isnt racist. Thats politics.

How do some of you not understand that this watering down of the term is part of the pushback?

Racism is a dirty, dark, evil part of someone and to just flippantly call any and every disagreement racism does NOTHING to solve it.

I mean my sister adopted two young African American boys and is raising my nephews alone as a single white woman and ...voted... For...Trump. I think she is misguided, but she is the opposite of "racist".

You guys are crying wolf and its going to backfire.

Not saying they are. Just saying why you hear from one side and not the other right now. It's loser talk.

i think that’s not nuanced enough. I mean, yeah sure, but at some point calls to violence are more than just loser talk. It can be dangerous.whereas if someone wants to leave, well… bye.

Murph, they do believe it man. One guys is literally saying the MAGA slogan (words) is racist. Even though every politician tells us how crappy the previous guy is.

Some have adopted it or co-opted it into a racist ideology, but the term was politics 101 when it was incorporated in 2016.

Its more bullying. You cant say anything bad about Obama's liberal policies or you are racist.

Quench free speech by making it bad to say something that isnt even remotely racist is the bully strategy I keep screaming about.

For clarity. We agree. I wasnt trying to equate the severity as much as point to the reason.

Also, the civil war talk isnt happening with many if any conservatives that you and I work with in our offices or talk to on the over the hedges. It just isnt. Its a small group of disenfranchised losers. Dangerous group, but not enough to bring down a democracy.

And that's the crux of it. They'd rather end our democracy than lose fair elections. They will vote for the guy who literally attempted a coup.
