If you haven't been paying attention to the news in Fl., you've missed a lot. As far as history, "we don't want to make little white kids feel bad about themselves" - Ron Desantis.

I'm with you on questioning the verity of the story. Would like to know more about this from verified sources. But telling a teacher where they can/can't put posters in their classroom, or telling them what kind of tape, or needing approval before decorating their room, etc. is completely absurd. It's the mindset evidenced all-too-often by those intent upon de-professionalizing the teaching discipline.

BS - the school district is trying to cover its ass. Any school mandating only state-required materials being posted is BS, too. I'm not trusting the story 100%, but this is no gotcha, ridgetop.

I live here, have family members in the profession in the state and your previous statement couldn’t be further from the truth. DeSantis doesn’t want any kid feeling bad about their race/skin color or ethnicity.

I fail to see what problem you could conceivably have with it unless you want the curriculum to go beyond the basic teaching of our nation’s history. Is that what you’re after?

I worked in FL public schools and am in teacher prep/higher ed. Spend ALOT of time in schools. No district should have a bulletin board "policy." I've never heard of such stupidity. That's disgraceful. Trust the professionals to create print-rich classroom environments that are colorful, welcoming, and inspirational. Bulletin board policy? What a crock of shit.

Ok , displayed in a very focal point of classroom design and culture the state expects a standard board that recites specific standards relative to the lesson for that day .
These standards have specific references and numbered patterns. Students will see these standards (Florida State Standards) and will reflect as the lesson progresses.
The pictures of the people in question were originally placed where the teachers work station or lesson center should be . This is an Autistic class who have very specific and different learning mechanics.
I think the teacher was looking for his 15 minutes of fame. This could have been handled much better by all parties involved.

New teachers will flock to Florida, then slip over the border to Georgia or Alabama for a 10k/yr pay raise once they've been here for five years.

Davis it’s a state requirement that is specifically outlined in Florida statuaries ….proper bulletin board displays shall be part of the classroom culture.

Well if true, thank the good Lord that when I taught no such bullshit rule existed. Hopefully you were sharing a Lagunitas-induced joke.

I did have Laguntias , in fact there was a BOGO at Publix I participated in . However I’m serious about the stuff I posted. I couldn’t make that up . And yes a lot of BS . I was in Admin for 20 years so I had to facilitate the implementation of this process .
But now I’m not and I get to drink IPA and play golf 4 times a week.
Scores this week by the way:
78,80,76,and 79 yesterday. Not a bad week. Best ever actually! Sorry for the extra off topic stuff lol

And what is wrong with that? You libbies seem to be forgetting that slavery and racism occurred a long time ago. As much as you would like to believe that it’s still going strong, it isn’t.
Ron is right. No need to create unnecessary division in race relations.

In a libbies world, racism never dies. Segregation is alive and well. All pubs are white supremacists…
Meanwhile in the real world, whites and blacks are doing well together and are making progress everyday.
Stop trying to divide our country with your victim BS narrative. It’s tired and it’s hateful.

LOL ... ok, got it.... racism was been eradicated from America a long time ago ... Ahmaud Atbury, and many others probably disagree, but if you say so, boss.

So you have data to back up that statement? Sounds like quite the hyperbole.
