Apparently you dead-fish-holders out there are driving western women to Korea, along with something called Netflix.

'The Netflix effect': Why Western women are heading to South Korea in search of love

Can you just put down the dead fish long enough to take a picture?

Of course, not all Korean men are the same as the ones portrayed on Korean TV shows.

Who wants a woman that doesn’t like to fish? Don’t Korean men eat sushi? Last I checked the fish is dead. Maybe not cooked but still dead. :)

Maybe guys should replace the fishing pic with a pic of them holding their employee badge or name tag or work uniform indicating they have a job and are not a dead beat.

Men aren't the ones holding the dead fish, thank you very much. Korean men probably think we're stealing all of their women, so if they're willing to put up with western women's entitled attitudes in order to get laid, more power to them.

True. Revenge is a fish best served cold apparently.

I’ve heard this complaint about fish pictures before from American women. I like fishing, but I get it. Why not just have a picture of yourself?

Even if there are women who will only date men holding fish, the market for their affection seems suitably saturated. Why not hold a live opossum or something to try to service an underserved population?

Point of order: often times those fish aren’t quite dead yet albeit very close.

Interesting take. I don’t know. Maybe it’s different in England or Europe generally. A lot of guys I see here in America - at least in the South - use their boats and fishing trips as a way to meet or impress women and are doing just fine. A lot of guys in the U.S. complain that women don’t like them because they’re not over six feet tall so how are SK men avoiding that issue. Also, from my quick search, American women and SK men are about the same weight, which I don’t think most men or women would consider ideal. Maybe it’s more of a thing with teenage girls. The K-Pop thing is obviously real.

A lot to unpack here. But I hope both women and men date whoever the heck makes them happy. I just see a lot of men and women online constantly complaining about the opposite sex and saying there are no good ones left, etc. I get the sense that a lot of people just have unrealistic expectations about their romantic market value.

I've been married 22 years and men holding fish are no threat.

If however men start posting pictures taking out the trash and standing over a suds filled sink, I may need to be concerned.

I'll admit... when I used the dating apps in the past, my profile pic was me holding a fish. If I'm ever back on them again, I will continue to do so.

My response to women who make fun of it:

I'll stop posting fish pics when girls stop posting pics of themselves in front of angel wings.
