No, it was done in the wrong way. A lot of dems agree with me. Only the far lefties think this was just fine. So the FBI knew there was nuclear documents for 18 months and didn't do anything until this week about it? You keep thinking this was handled well after trump wins the presidency because of this dumb move. I would love to be wrong on that statement but think those possibilities went up a bunch because of this.
Okay, so since your previous suggestion was that they should serve him with a subpoena (they did) and inform him that the matter was being referred to the DOJ (he and his lawyers were well aware of it even if they just read the media or bothered to ask who the person showing up with the subpoena was), what would you suggest they should have done, specifically?
No. He tried to help SA get nuclear technology at the beginning of his presidency. They're technically not an adversary and would be the highest bidder.
It’s only hard to believe in the sense there is no further anyone could go. Like, literally the most corrupt betrayal a government official could possibly do. Hopefully Putin has a suite for him right next door to Snowden. They can be neighbors in exile.
Not to distract from the key issue here, but how the hell do we as a nation still have physical materials marked top secret in the year 2022? This isn't a damn Get Smart episode.
He just buried his ex-wife on his golf course for a tax dodge. Of course he would sell state secrets to line his pockets.
He was served with a grand jury subpoena for records by somebody from the DOJ, at which point they provided access to some documents in the basement of Mar-a-Lago but not documents in his offices and personal quarters.
Honestly, if we are talking ultra-ultra sensitive materials just having the original physical documents and a “chain of custody” to only view in secure locations would probably be the most secure. Computer networks and terminals can get hacked, physical copies cannot. I guess there is no perfect security measure. Obviously chain of custody type arrangements fall apart if the top of the chain is a clown show that takes over the “custody” part.
So they were successful in getting some documents. Do it again and see if you get more. Not that hard to do.
Disagree but only because this is a rushed release with much still going on. With final release of all documents, I agree.
WSJ is saying documents “of the highest classification level” were recovered at Mara Lago… it’s cool, though, he had a pad lock….
That makes sense. It just brings to mind like a red stamp with TOP SECRET across the top of a stack of papers. Feels more like a bad spy novel than the literal national security of the United States.
He is an extremely vindictive man and often reckless. Also very greedy. He might have been driven by both impulses and I seriously doubt he consulted with legal counsel.
