Florida teacher says district worker removed several pictures of "black heros" from his classroom

There are some great universities there.

 

Thank you for what you do. I was fired up when I heard the story yesterday. It was not my kid but my kid attends the school. And I am confident it is/was an outlier circumstance. Most approach their profession as you do and articulate. Really hope the teacher just had a bad moment.

 

It's easy to imagine this teacher was somehow emboldened by DeSantis.

 

This is just pure hogwash. It has nothing to do with DeSantis. Just like it has nothing to do with the teachers union. If there was any sort of emboldening it would have been from the administration at the school. Which I do not think is the case. Good grief what a ridiculous assertion.

 

Reading this thread has been like watching a frog hopping contest, with the way so many people have jumped to conclusions based on the OP. The guy who took down the posters must be racist. He must be an idiot. He must be cold hearted. He must be part of DeSantis’ goon squad. Therefore he must be fired and deprived of his livelihood.

Seems to me it was a miscommunication on both sides, but rather than work it out at the school level, the teacher sought his 15 minutes of fame and somehow broke this as a new story.

 

Good god, national news because of a bureaucratic fight over how a room should be configured.
This country has really lost the plot.

 

The picture removal might have been the straw that broke the camel’s back. Start with low wages, throw in some school shootings, add some pandemic, drop in a bunch of anti-woke laws that apply to teachers and stir them all up. Then top it all off with a school administrator removing the pictures of black leaders from your walls, and you might decide to call it a day.

 

What was the point of that yahoo article referencing his thoughts on killing drug dealers? Totally unnecessary.

DeSantis will be either the Governor for a 2nd term, or the President. Either way, I’d start looking for a head explosion clean-up kit on Amazon.

 

I do not disagree on his likely re-election. My head will not explode over his reign of terror. The next generation will have to make a stand.

We will all be harmed by having an angry leader who openly governs for the benefit of only a minority of the people in this country; and he won't even be helping most of those people.

 

Possibly, but he will be judged eventually. Electoral success is not moral vindication. Most of his actions are plainly morally wrong

In looking at the Biden Admin’s actions so far I would agree electoral success isn’t moral vindication.

But it all comes back to how you view morality. The progressive left has done a fantastic job destroying any objective measure of morality and replacing it with individual “truth”.
