The only way it was handled badly was that he was allowed to keep possession of that material for over a year. Remember, if Orange McGirdlepants hadn't opened his mouth, no one would have known this search ever occurred.

Depends on the facts. Hilary has permission to use her private server, it was secure and there was a history of SOS previously doing it. And she gave up the emails willingly. Seems to be different facts here but we don know enough yet
All I know is that Comey officially bad mouthed her good before turning around and saying she had no intent. So no intent is the only defense I can think of for Trump to use, though I'm sure he would of course be lying.

He's always been on the far right, but the far right keeps moving further to the right and Rick has moved right along with them. They've moved so far right that they've moved off the spectrum of reality and now live in a complete fantasy world.
If it turns out that Trump was in possession of highly classified nuclear secrets then, yes, he did in fact steal them. If you walk out of someone's house with items that do not belong to you and that you did not have permission to take, that is the definition of stealing.
No intent and cooperating with the DOJ to return all documents will likely get a high ranking official off with no punishment when it comes to handling classified intel. This is exactly what happened with Hillary. With Trump, we have no idea about intent. Only speculation. But we know he didn't cooperate with the Archives, which is why the DOJ had to get involved. Trump also didn't comply with a subpoena to return all the documents, which meant the only way the DOJ was going to get the docs is with the FBI and a proper warrant. None of this had to be public. Trump could have complied with the first request and returned all the documents. Trump could have also complied with the subpoena. Last, Trump didn't have to make the raid public. As for intent, all we know is the FBI had Mar a Lago under surveillance. Meaning they wanted to know who and when had possible access to these documents. Doesn't prove anything, but points to Trump having potentially intent on using these documents. One theory is Trump was going, or did share the nuclear intel with the Saudis. Trump already approved some nuclear sharing with Saudis, and former Trump Advisor Flynn was accused of being behind a scheme to sell nuclear information to the Saudis in 2017. We also know Trump was recently hanging out with top Saudi officials during the recent LIV golf event Trump hosted. None of this proves anything in terms of intent Trump may or may not have, but the pieces fit. If Trump had intent to use the info, Saudi Arabia was likely whom he was dealing with.
