That's what bothers people here about this exchange??? The heckler was laughing out loud while Beto was passionately speaking about the horror of school kids being slaughtered with military weaponry. Beto's response in the heat of the moment was certainly understandable.
I think my response was pretty clear. He shouldn't have said that term. Yes, he should have went at the guy hard.... but dropping that bomb is not appropriate. Two wrongs don't make a right.
You didn't grow up around our family then. I never once in my life heard my mother curse. The only time I remember hearing my dad curse as a kid was when our house was flooding during hurricane Donna.
Fair enough, but why laugh at any part of the school shootings whether it’s who was shot, the weapon used, or why a teen was allowed to buy the weapon and ammunition? I appreciate what you believe they were laughing at, but I think we can both agree heckling during a serious and emotional discussion of school shootings was worthy of that response.
That particular phase is just a bridge too far for me in a public setting. Yes, I recently stubbed my toe pretty good.. and that was the exact term I used... but I was at home and no one was video recording me.
Perhaps Beto should have used a different word. But I think some people here are being too judgemental of him. He was clearly caught in an emotional moment when he was interrupted by loud laughing. Personally, I would have preferred the term a*****e.
On a scale of 1-10 of me being judgemental of him for this, I'm at about a 2 to 3. I don't think he should have said it, but I would certainly still vote for him. I would be onboard with ah too.
I never hear my sweet sister, who is a devout Christian, curse. But she was thrilled at Beto's response to that guy and shared the link with my brother and I. So yes, I think his response will resonate with Dems who are sick to death with mild Dem responses to right-wing atrocities, verbal and otherwise.
I suppose it depends on who’s making the decision on what should or shouldn’t be said. Since the attendees cheered the response I’d say they believed differently than you at the moment. A properly placed vulgarity can drive home a point with a great deal of power. I mean even Jesus went violent on the money changers in the Temple once.
