Dad, can you briefly explain, in your words, the connection between woke and Marx?

If anti-racism and anti-capitalism go hand in hand, what does that tell you about capitalism?

How could anyone criticize a movement that touts being more aware (awake) of what is really happening in this society, politically, economically, historically, and spiritually?

It is the movement that seeks to denigrate the movement that is the cause for concern. Their insistence that it is better for society to be kept in the dark as to why some people enjoy privileges that others don't is unsustainable in modern society- especially when a waning segment of society is its greatest advocate of that philosophy.

The reality is that people have been "woke" all along in this country. What has changed is the diminishing power of those who subjected the masses to living conditions which were absurdly deplorable while those who had power enjoyed absurd wealth at the expense of those in deplorable conditions.

As the power of those who controlled the economic means of survival in this country dissipates, there has been an uptick in the expression of those who are the ancestors and are the ancestors of the victims of the past.

Anti woke people don't want young women to know that the reason why white males earn more money than their female counterparts is because of the policies of the past, and not because of some spiritual or divine province of superiority of gender. Just because God allows certain things to occur, it does not make it right, and instead serves as a predicate for imposition of divine sanctions upon those who delude themselves into believing that because it occurred it is therefore justified as righteous.

The pilfering of indigenous Americans' land was wrong. This "not stolen conquered" mentality that permeates the Cro Magnon segment of our society, is a frivolous defense to criminality. Each decade that goes by where there is no restitution or atonement for such acts seals the fate of the anti-woke component of our society even further. This is why so many white people have relinquished the suicidal delusion that what many of them achieved here in America was strictly attributable to their God given talents and abilities which in a sick person's mind, other groups obviously lack.

The MAGA movement already in its supernova stage, thought it could roll back the hands of time to where women, blacks, immigrants, and indigenous people knew their pecking order. It has failed dismally because a large segment of white America has rejected it. Had the majority of whites gotten on the sick bandwagon of "US First everyone else whenever" which was the message Trump sent when he and his son campaigned vigorously in Mississippi when he ran against Hillary, the anti-woke ("love it or leave it") crowd would have bought themselves perhaps a few more decades of preeminence. But that's all.

It is really a shame that the GOP leadership (I will not put all republicans in this category) and its current scorched earth tactics to perpetuate a tainted myth of white supremacy and even more white male supremacy, would virtually draw the line in the sand and call for violent insurgence (which is what many of them are calling for- see their modern day Fort Sumter on January 6, 2020), just to buy perhaps 25 more years living under the delusion that "they got it like that".

There is a saying that a great litigator is also an amazing negotiator and vice versa. You have to know when to fold the cards. The Haitians prevailed because they were willing to die for what was theirs. How do you fight for something you have stolen from other people and expect God to sustain you? It is as laughable as it is pathetic. How do you justify the continued illusion that one color of people deserves less simply because their genes are not of the same caliber of another race's genes? How could you possibly think that in the LONG RUN such madness would be rewarded by God? Most white people in this country have come to that realization and have abandoned this masochistic demise of the old order.

Even the more frequent or better yet more acknowledged sightings of UFOs bodes against this right-winged extremist regime. Extraterrestrials are not making their presence known more frequently because they applaud this sick movement to cling to power which was artificially created to begin with. They are demonstrating to this dying segment of our society that their time has come and gone, and that any notion that they can forge some resurgence by way of barbaric intervention will be met with the most horrific backlash of force this world has ever known. This is a universal issue. It is not a world issue, and the universe has stepped in to ensure swift retribution if this ugly regime more than rears its ugly head at the promotion of humanism (environmental, immigration, privacy rights, economic stability for everyone).

Warning signs that they have ignominiously ignored are stop lights that they have driven through oblivious to the traffic of consequences that will fatalistically collide with them as a result.

Global warming has eroded Florida's beaches from Jacksonville to Key West, and the leadership in the state concerns itself with how math is taught or making sure that certain people don't vote that will disagree with their destructive philosophy. What happens to a culture that ignores what is right or uses what is right to promote wrong agendas? Atlantis is fictional, but many other cultures have seen the impact of nature that is no longer willing to wait for political change. If the right continues to ignore the signs, there will be no Florida in a hundred years. It will be completely submerged- University of Florida and Tallahassee.

If being woke means crying out to address these issues so they will not occur, then we owe it to ourselves to stay that way.

There damn sure is such a thing as trying to be fair. Indeed, it MUST be fundamentally aspirational in any society that hopes to survive and prosper. Most Americans I know are fair and generous, or try to be. Then there are those who post such ignorant posts as this one.

If your point is that we, as a country, still have work to do in the area of equal opportunity for all, while also realizing the massive amount of progress that HAS been made, then I am with you. If, however, all you want to do is continue to push a victim narrative, one that attempts to try and guarantee some level of equal outcome, then I'm out. This country, for all its faults, both past and present, still provides more opportunity for education, wealth, standard of living and the right to live freely, than anywhere else on earth. Ultimately it is up to each individual to make their own way in life, to make the GOOD choices that will hopefully maximize their potential for success. We live in a system that allows that possibility. Will it happen for everyone... no. But is it possible... yes. A lot of progress has been made on "these issues", and more is yet to come.

Fair is what we say it is and not everything can be fair in a world of limited resources, individual uniqueness and capability. Is it fair our elected officials get the best of everything from health care, to pay, to accommodations? Some would certainly say no and others would say they deserve it fair or not.

I don't consider being "woke" a bad thing, but as with most things, there's a point at which it can be taken to an extreme level or weaponized in a way that disallows for any nuance. One of the reasons I miss Obama was his ability to see ambiguity and complexity.

Feel free to google the numerous country indices on the criteria you listed.

From individual freedom, wealth, education, to standard of living, there are many countries ahead in each and also in aggregate. Sadly, we don't corner the market in these areas.
