so is this action on Jan 6 a result of info from Mara Lago or a result of the Alex Jones texts?

Between the case in NY about his business, the tax records to the house committee, the Jones texts, the Meadows flip, the search at Mara Lago, the Georgia investigation, and the Jan 6 investigation, the walls are closing in on Trump. How long before Melania sees the bus coming and moves out?

Well, I know why it's called The Shovel. Again, we need to sit back and wait to see what comes of this. Trump isn't just like all our other former presidents. Just looking at his time in office and the way he lied, used his position to try and get the Ukrainian prez to find dirt on a potential political advisory if he wanted our help, he may be one of the catalysts for Jan 6th. He's no boy scout. He has no respect for our country or our laws. He brought this on himself.

It's far more dangerous to allow him to go on about his "business" with no repercussions. A Dem might get in there under the same sort of circumstances and do worse. Then you'll want the FBI. There can be worse precedents than this.

It’s on twitter. Read before it was posted here. ;)

Certainly we wouldn’t let a former president get away with murdering someone. Please list the crimes we should ignore below:

Trump's statement that "only mobsters take the 5th" discussed in more detail in another thread comes to mind.

Well, if the president murders someone on, say, 5th avenue, obviously we should ignore it.

PS: I was just noting the ironic tone of the twitter post.

Interesting to see the search characterized as a “no Knock” search when the Secret Service was notified hours in advance and then let the FBI in. That isn’t “no knock.”

Why hasn't Trump himself released the specifics from the search warrant regarding the basis for the search and what the FBI confiscated? The FBI is typically silent on these matters.

Why hasn't Trump released the info from the FBI search warrant? So he can control the narrative, mischaracterize the court approved search warrant as a "raid", and inflame his base by saying it was a baseless "witch hunt". Typical dishonest Trump.

This is what we have become. Black man murdered by a cop; a summer of violence across the country. An odd election result; an attack on the capital. A controversial Supreme Court decision; threats of violence and attempts to murder a justice. A lawful warrant executed against an ex president; threats and attempted violence.

I guess that cool heads no longer prevail.

Because Trump might just be the absolute worst person ever at hiring good legal advice.

I read this editorial in The Shovel. I have quoted just 3 paragraphs but the site invites you to share anything. If somebody wants to post the whole thing after verifying that it’s good to go I would appreciate it. I wonder if Trumpistas would recognize it as satire.
We are certainly no fans of Donald Trump – let’s make that clear from the outset. But yesterday’s raid by the FBI on the home of a former president sets a dangerous precedent.

A precedent which now means that anyone who evades taxes, attempts to undermine an election, sexually assaults women, manipulates the value of their assets, uses state resources to enrich themselves or aids and abets the overthrow of a democratically elected government will be subject to investigation.

Is that the world we want to live in? Where anyone accused of insurrection can be subject to questioning from law enforcement officers?
