BREAKING: Changes coming to Georgia-Florida game in Jacksonville

*** UPDATE: DawgsHQ initially reported that both teams would be able to host recruits on an annual basis. We have since learned that only the designated home team is able to do so, being able to provide tickets for recruits without any contact. Georgia is exercising its right to provide tickets for the first time as the designated home team in 2022.

The SEC amended its rules back in 2012 to allow the home team to give tickets to recruits for neutral sites games, but at that time, according to a Bleacher Report article citing quotes from Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity who spoke to the AJC, he and Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley reportedly agreed to not do so. Both have since moved on from their respective positions.

As I understand it, there has been a long-standing agreement between the schools which the stinking LegHumpers just decided to IGNORE starting this year. Pardon my language . . . but screw 'em. This reeks of desperation by Bowl Cut.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read only the designated home team can provide tickets. This year it's UGA.

They are scared of Napier... you can tell Kirby knows his easy time with our bad coaches, that we've had in the past, are over.

And Kirby knows that he is in for the fight of his life against the mighty Gators with Napier at the helm.

I always (incorrectly) thought this was an NCAA rule, didnt realize we mutually agreed not to do. Personally thought it was a dumb rule so glad they're doing away with it and kirby can shut up about making this a home and home series (although I would love to see a game in athens)

    But also screw georgia

Why is this such a big deal? The 'home team' switches every year, so we will be able to do the same next year, no?

Too bad you missed the 1995 game - the worst Georgia has been beaten between the hedges!

I still kick myself for that, I was only 12 at the time but probably could have talked my uncle into taking me. At least I was there in Gainesville.

    Children.

I was in Athens drunk, loving life, and talking just enough crap to not get my ass kicked. Barely pulled it off.

Agreed. I think it was the incessant whining by Kirby about it that annoyed people.

Maybe we can invalidate their national championship because we didn't have recruits there last year. ;)
