Is it still appropriate to fly an American Flag?

I agree, but as Murphree said above, she is likely the first to condemn kneeling. She is a hypocritical nutjob and attention whore. Reagan would have abhorred her approach.

 

They have made words like liberal, progressive and woke have a bad connotation, why not the flag too?

 

Because progressive is a laughable misnomer. And Woke is when people think only their "progress" counts and anyone who doesnt toe that line gets called down or punished in some way.

The flag. Thats all of ours.

I've thought about the founding fathers addressing these so called "patriots" and reaming them a new one.

 

Much appreciated, my friend. I serve, in part, to protect the rights of citizens to fly a flag upside down, burn it, step on it… whatever they choose to do when they are upset. I don’t take it personally. It’s freedom of speech. I may not always like it, but I’m glad we live in a country where you won’t get locked up for it.

 

It is disheartening and troubling that some citizens of the U.S. would believe the flag has become a symbol of a select group versus the flag of a unified nation. The mere thought that the flag belongs to them and not to me makes me wonder what our flag would be replaced with. Would some other flag serve as a symbol of unity? If so what flag would we choose or would we choose one at all? What would be used to signify we are a nation of one under the Constitution of the United States acting in a concerted effort to preserve our freedom? Who knows?

What I do know is the U.S. flag belongs to all U.S. citizens and what you do with your flag is your business. I also know the flag of the United States is proudly displayed on a daily basis through out our Capitol and Federal government institutions. It is honored and flown right side up not upside down. It is lowered to half mast as a sign of reverence to those whose contributions to this nation we honor. It is taken down at night and folded with care to be flown again the following day. It is our flag and to those who think otherwise I say you are part of the problem not the solution. It is this flag that stands for and allows all of us to enact change for the better and benefit of all.

I am also reminded of Pledge of Allegiance.


This is who we are and what we are and the flag and pledge of allegiance are the glue that unites citizen's of the United States. If and when our government institutions start flying our flag upside down and the pledge is no longer spoken then and only then have we lost it all. At that point you will have succeeded in prying it from my cold dead hands.
