Blockage

I blocked a poster during the heat of covid when we (well, most of us) were just trying to learn. That poster was (is?) a consistent distraction and never once added value.

I felt shame about blocking someone so a few months back I unblocked said poster.

I made it about 2 days before realizing this place was better not seeing their posts. Back to blocked and I'm at peace with it.

 

I refuse to block anyone. Half the fun is watching people embarrass themselves and you can’t do that if they’re blocked

 

I tried to hold the line on not blocking a while back. I finally relented and started blocking folks that were cruel, ignorant and prolific posters. There was an immediate benefit to the value of this site to me.

I recommend it.

 

Have come close but never intentionally blocked anyone. Have done it a couple times by accident tho.

This thread inspired me a little so I checked back on the list of libbies I have on ignore….took one glance and I thought hell no. Let’s just say I needed to cull a few of the libs who pretty much repeat what the others are saying.

 

The worst part of the blocking is that we can’t see what Karen posts. So there will be a response and no context. Blocking should only be Karen blocking the ability to see what they don’t want to see but others should be able to see what Karen posts.

This should be fixed.

 

Agreed. I did my first ever “report” recently and regret it. In the report I specifically asked not to have the post deleted. It provides context to the person and who they are. People should be able to know what kind of person they are dealing with. Their post was deleted quite quickly. Though I wish it had not been. Probably won’t report anything again.

 

Why are there no posts on this thread? All I see is the OP.

 

I know, right. If you block someone shouldn't they be the one that cannot see your posts? Instead it works backwards... If I blocks someone they can still see my posts and still give me grief. What kind of master mind came up with that kind of backwards setting?

If I block someone then I expect them NOT to see MY posts... that's the way it should work.

 

Gotta be 95. I blocked that one for the same reasons and never looked back. Have two posters blocked.

 

I don't trust myself not to argue with them. Blocking is great. I don't have to read their posts or get notifications of their ratings.

 

Others can see what Karen posts. You just can't see what Karen posts, as quoted by others, because Karen has you on ignore.

 

I've never blocked anybody either but there is one poster that shows up as ignored member. I assume that means somehow he got blocked. I've tried to unblock him but can't figure out how so I figure he is forever blocked.

 

Hover your cursor on your small avatar on the upper right. The list that opens up includes 'People You Ignored'.

Yes, I was worried he was announcing a medical issue.
I have only blocked 1 person -a persistently negative and bombastic "Gator fan" over on the Football boards. The posters that the OP described over here, i just ignore -

 

I don’t block anyone. There are a few posters in the Insider Board who block me. One I was too aggressive with. Some don’t like my incredibly funny inside information( If you don’t mind my boasting). Information that the mainstream sports media (msm) will not report. I am proud not to have blocked anyone and my main goal is to own the lobbies! I am most proud of seeing all the Libbies here cite Citizens United in the DeSantis threads so I can say, “I told you so!”
