I think Trump has bombshells information on Biden and Hunter. Biden ordered the hit to protect his family.

So according to maga world Trump cannot not be investigated and regardless of any evidence can never be charged with anything. Sounds like above the law to me.

43 pages with lots of opinions about a warrant application, the contents of which, nobody knows.

Maybe Meadows told them where the remaining documents were stored and of intent to destroy documents Trump claimed he didn't have.

What has changed in the last two weeks that drove this?

Meadows is no longer MAGA affiliated

Alex scum Jones texts sent to Jan 6 committee

Im going with Meadows gave them something actionable to avoid Jan 6 criminal charges

All I got to say about this is they better have had very good info about what they would find and it better have been very bad news for Trump. Otherwise this was a massive mistake.

It is all but an absolute certainty that both Garland and Wray signed off on the application, and I am just as certain that they were loath to do so. Both those men, one a Trump appointee, are consumate professionals and were well aware the right wing was going to have a hissy-fit. From what I've read, the evidence as laid out in the affidavit was overwhelming. Similarly, you can be certain the judge or magistrate - it doesn't matter which - didn't want to issue the warrant unless he or she was absolutely certain the facts laid out in the affidavit conclusively showed commission of a crime.

    Now we wait.

As for who issued the warrant, I don't know how the federal system handles search warrant applications, but in the state system (Florida), the duty judge on that day does. This is aimed at preventing judge shopping. I do know that magistrates are highly skilled and experienced and are essential to federal courts being able to handle their case loads.

Would you feel better if an applicant could judge shop?

I don't think you actually believe that's what happened. I guarantee you 100% Garland and Wray both approved the search warrant application being submitted. If that's proved to be not what happened, I'll never post here again due to the amount of crow I'd have to eat.

How much experience with federal prosecutions do you have? Because going to the duty magistrate to get a warrant approved is the SOP. Frankly, I can't imagine trying to tell the magistrate that they're not a "real enough" judge to review and sign the warrant.

EDIT: This is the dude's bio:
Bruce Reinhart was sworn in as a United States Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of Florida on March 14, 2018. Prior to taking the bench, he was in private practice for 10 years, both as a solo practitioner and as the co-chair of the white collar crime practice group of a national firm. His practice focused on white collar criminal defense and complex civil litigation. From 1996-2008, he was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in West Palm Beach. From 1988-1996, he was a Trial Attorney in the Public Integrity Section of the U.S. Department of Justice, having entered the Department as part of the Attorney General's Honors Program. He began his legal career as the law clerk to the Honorable Norma L. Shapiro on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Judge Reinhart earned a degree in civil engineering cum laude from Princeton University in 1984 and a J.D. cum laude in 1987 from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

    Impressive.

Note: most of us are focusing on the sufficiency of the warrant application. Only the right is calling it a hit job and a exonerating Trump, but that's what cult members do. No need to step back and actually think about it.

I agree it’s SOP for run of the mill federal prosecutions.

But I have as much experience applying for a search warrant on a former U.S. President as literally anyone in the country save the one or two AUSAs who were involved here (which is to say none at all), and notwithstanding the fact that magistrates sign search warrants everyday, I think I probably would have tried to find a way to politely say “if we’re going to do this, I think it would be in everyone’s best interests if this one went to a district judge.”

This whole episode has been very revealing about MAGA world.

Without one shred of evidence about this warrant search, they declared it a politically motivated raid.

Clearly, that is how they believe the DOJ would be used if they were running it.

    Always incriminating their own motives.

One of these days someone is going to find something actionable about Hunter. Until then, those fantasies will have to be limited to nocturnal emissions only.
