Clinton and Gingrich were the last to actually work spending/tax legislation that balanced the federal budget and then created a real surplus.

John Koskinen is a name that I had wished I would never hear again.

One guys opinion piece? I can find a hundred opinion pieces the other way.

Again. Read the IRS apologies. They really hinted at the fact that one side was singled out without saying so. (Yes. That is just 1 persons opinion. Mine. ;))

PR purposes to calm down the media firestorm. Both sides were scrutinized, the right just had higher volume.

I think this is one of those polarizing subjects that likely has no absolute resolution so I dont wanna beat this to death. It certainly would not be shrugged off if the exact situation were reversed. Agree?

Yes, even though Gingrich is a giant turd, as speaker of the house he did obviously have a role in that “balanced budget”. Although I always thought the greater role was simply fortuitous timing with the tech bubble.

The last two GOP Presidents (with GOP control of Congress) passed deficit busting tax cuts, such that even during economic bubbles, they were still running massive increased deficits, and when the two crashes happened they went out the door with much bigger deficits than they started with. These are the facts.

But it does have absolute resolution. Once the furor died down, the truth came out, the IRS was targetting everyone who had political phrases in the name of their organization for increased scrutiny as to whether or not the organization existed for political purposes.

It is an amazing case study in the power of spin that so many people still believe the false versions of the story.

Too funny. We have proof they targeted conservative groups and an apology from the IRS and still people make shit up. Crazy. I wonder what color the sky is in their world.

Actually, the proof is that the ‘Pubs harassed IRS employees who were trying to do their job. None of the tea party political organizations were entitled to the 501(c)(4) status they were applying for, so when they were dumb enough to give the organization a tea party name, they were flagged for it.

Yeah, that is wrong. The IRS APOLOGIZED to the conservative groups. I posted it. Not a good look to make shit up that's already been proven.

We don't need 87,000 more IRS agents other than to persecute the political opposition as was done under Obama. This will end up getting rolled back, but not before real damage is inflicted on the American people.

    The Obama IRS Scandal:

FLASHBACK: Obama IRS Scandal Corruption Secrets! | Judicial Watch

I'm still waiting for these documents that have been ordered to be released are actually released. They should be most entertaining:

Federal Court Orders Release of Testimony of Former Obama Era IRS Officials Lois Lerner and Holly Paz | Judicial Watch

Somewhere around page 550 in the bill, it discusses providing subsidies to farmers which will end up in less food being grown at a time when there are high prices and food shortages. This has been done in Europe leading to protesting farmers and food shortages. The EU is trying to paint the farmers as the problem when the problem is the government policies on farming. SRI Lanka followed this advice and almost starved to death as a nation. Why in the hell do these woke climate freaks in government think they know more about farming than people who have been farmers for generations? Why are we being directed down that already failed road? (shaking head)

The more I read this crappy bill, the more it is evident that the people who wrote the bill and the people who passed the bill don't know what the hell they are doing.

The sooner these people are removed from power at the ballot box the better.

I did not share my feelings about Clinton. Why do you feel the need to do so with Gingrich. I give both men credit for their accomplishment. Neither could’ve/would’ve without the other.

Clinton took the first steps towards balancing the budget in 1993 with the omnibus bill. Without Gingrich.

I blame Gingrich for most of the problems with our current politics. He ushered in a new era of winning by any means necessary and making political opponents out to be enemies. And we are reaping that whirlwind that he sowed for us.

The IRS didn't raid Trump. The difference between Wells Fargo and IRS targeting being strategic is evidence. There is a paper trail of executives pushing for cross-selling. I have yet to see any evidence of anybody pushing Lerner to target. Have you?

Oh silly me. Of course the IRS or FBI under a democrat would never consider doing anything that even gave the appearance of impropriety.

Debating with you is equivalent to trying to tell an 18 year old boy that the 24 year old hot blonde who keeps looking at him is someone he shouldn’t get involved with. It won’t dawn on him until after he’s at the doctor that he was the only one she was flirting with.

I actually wasn’t referring to him as a turd of human being (although he probably is that too), I actually meant his scorched earth brand of politics. Philnotfil explained it perfectly up above in post #195.
